  • Red Cross reserves registration, for volunteering:

There will be much to do.

  • Do what? Leg it? Or set me straight? šŸ˜‚

  • Leg it.
But be careful obviously. Isolate for 14 days etc.
And be aware people might be unhappy with your decision.

  • Feel your pain I've had to cancel a family trip to Scotland, my wife is bread winner and freelance and getting work is a bit mad.
    But.
Traveling is not a good idea. Pretty sure the French have said "non".

I'd imagine the war is terrifying in lots of different ways and this is terrifying in a way that's different to the war. Rampant capitalism, zero hours etc etc.

You sound like you've got a salary. You're pretty lucky.

  • Yeah - i've honestly had the same thoughts.
My parents have a place in France nr Toulouse. It's in a village in a valley 5km from anything else with 20 people living in it.

The issue would be me having to go and get food or becoming sick. Not worth the risk both for myself and my wife or for the locals should we infect others.

  • Nice, registered. Havenā€™t heard of this before.

  • Please don't post links to that viral marketing twat.

  • Good response. I feel the same.

  • I misread that as

Please don't post links to that viral marketing, twat.

And thought it was a little harsh on @dammit.

  • My concern would be the potential to leave a trail of illness across the country if the travellers are carrying the virus.

  • Traveling is not a good idea. Pretty sure the French have said "non".

It's definitely frowned upon and crossing the borders is a definite no except for good reasons (we've issued travel authorisation documentation on request to our staff, but not for the guy who wanted to go shopping here). I think as a French citizen you'd get off the plane and be fine, but non-Frenchies or non-Residents might be questioned a but more as to why they were coming over.

  • One of my best mates, a teacher who I thought would be the first to jump at extra time off has volunteered to help out at his primary school, he reckons there is 50 kids at risk, really proud of him.

  • Oh I agree. There are big concerns and it is probably a selfish thing to do (reasons dependant).

  • Iā€™m getting increasingly pissed off with my bangface housemate, he went to the pub last night and got hammered, he just doesnā€™t seem to have grasped the seriousness of this situation, Iā€™m hoping he moves out in the next couple of weeks because heā€™s a good mate and itā€™s really straining our relationship. Just like to add Iā€™m not kicking him out he is doing up his own place so has somewhere to go. Fuck having housemates in this situation.

  • What training route is she doing? Our PGCEs have finished their courses early.

  • Can you move?

  • Though. That will have risks obvs

  • School Direct

  • The issue would be me having to go and get food or becoming sick. Not worth the risk both for myself and my wife or for the locals should we infect others.

The other issue would be that as I understand it without the right document allowing you to move around you'd have quite a high chance of getting arrested by the French police on the way there.

  • Itā€™s my house, they are due to move out very soon and that canā€™t come soon enough at the moment, I blame boris just as much as him, pubs should be closed by now itā€™s insane.

  • Has anyone heard whether Boris has had any luck with the manufacture of more ventilators? I read he had asked uk manufacturers to switch to making ventilators which seemed a bit far fetched. Iā€™ve not read any updates since!

  • Cycling banned in France.
