RRV
Anybody else here think Royal Free hospital? Too niche?

20 years ago I first got my RR and I haven’t been back for 9 so no contact.
So stupid never to have got citizenship. Will try the helpline in the morning. Thanks again. -

Found an unopened pack of paracetamol in my work drawer when I went to get my stuff today... score

Ha but closer to the truth than bonuses for funeral workers.
Many will not have funerals, like in Italy. -

My daughter has citizenship / dual nationality as she was born in AKL - both my wife an I have IRRV's but need to get them transferred to our new passports (might just do this without being too fussy about how long they take)
NZ are evidently stopping anyone entering the country unless they are residents or citizens:https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12318284

TBH that is the only thing really worth stockpiling. 2 of us ill for 4 days has pretty much gone through our stock (although discovered some really old hangover sachets in a drawer that have 1000mg in them).
If/when the kids get it, they'll just have to suffer. -

They've got better drugs.
-
• #5635
yeah, who doesn't take the chorizo?
-

Just happened to buy a big bottle of calpol before shit hit the fan. And the last couple of trips to the US I got big bottles of drugs, so thankfully we don't even have to think about that.

It’s definitely an option I want to keep open. If I can get the transfer done quite quickly it’ll give me that.
They all have dual nationality but as we’re no longer together I can’t go as a partner.
Still seem to be flights available but worried they may get scarce. -

Panic bought a bottle of Highland Park and a packet of crisps this afternoon.
Been calm so far but there's a weird energy round my ends of the kind I've only really seen in Glasgow on a summer bank holiday with scorching weather and an Orange march or Old Firm game on which translates to seeing just how frail societal bonds are and the potential for anarchy is made tangible...
there was a police car outside the local shop because some nutter started smashing the place up earlier and empty shelves, loads of old boys smoking tabs and drinking in the local pub's beer garden in an oddly festive mood (a rare sight as the beer garden looks like the garden of a council semi with a shite Elvis statue and a few empty picnic benches in it) and workies cutting around in vans looking ecstatic and care free.
Unless some kind of universal basic income has been announced I'm at a loss to see what everyone is so chuffed about tbh-maybe it's like Brexit and I they think a shafting is going to be administered to someone else or maybe I'm just reading too much into it...

It won't be the same ones in many or possibly even most cases. But, there will be theatre, music, sport and small business. It's what happens. After war, plague, fire - they come back. Different faces, different names. If we survive (and vast majority of "us" forumers will) we will have the opportunity to experience those things again.
But yeah, say goodbye to your actual current favourite football team or restaurant. -

Perhaps it was no coincidence that the roaring twenties occurred after the spanish flu. Maybe history will repeat (id be up for skipping the 1930s/40s in this analogy)
-

Oh sure, not in any way arguing that the economy won't recover. Its just likely that the people who had money on the line going into this won't have enough money to have another go after this.

What happened straight after the roaring twenties wasn't great though :D

Does the government loans situation make any kind of difference to your situation or by comparison, would Norway/Denmark style support be better?
-
• #5646

Scheisse, I fucking hate Cabaret.

Lots of people just create a fake account to put stupid bids in with no intention of paying.
Fucks over the seller (they don't get a sale) and triggers a review by the eBay team leading to the sellers account to be disabled.
-
• #5649
Yeah and sorry to hear about you and your situation.
I'm kind of hoping not all bits of the economy fully "recover" and this exposes the falseness of what we've been chasing, when it comes to what society actually needs to be resilient in a crisis. -

How about Shakespeare?
