Me and my wife (both Senior clinical NHS) are waiting to see what happens with regards to being potentially asked to be redeployed to other work areas.
Our (in our respective work areas) current main priority is getting people out of hospital and freeing up beds , supporting other clinical staff and then trying to deal with the domino effect of crap that will hit the community = reduced Mental Health input for clients = increase use of crisis services and very unlikely to get a Mental Health bed admission.
Care agencies (for physical health problems especially) will need to pick up the hospital discharges but it's a nightmare getting care for a lot of people (especially complex packages and end of life care) at the best of times.
There's talk of training admin staff up as carers to help out..!
The weird side of this though is that in the long run the populations' general health (if we learn anything from this experience) should improve (less pollution / re-evaluation of what is important in life) but there will always be a load of selfish people who won't change...
I expect all the holiday homes rich people own in Devon and Cornwall will now be lived in instead of for a holiday - maybe some locals should start squatting them...?
I wish people would also stop posting smug images of them having a casserole in front of a fire in their country pad or footballers doing keepy uppies by their private pools (F off the lot of you)
