Presume there's no way to trick it into thinking that an external USB3/TB drive is mounted and installable?
I'm going to take a 256 SSD and slap it in a USB caddy.. it's not a pain to carry that for when i'm stuck in random hotels. Rest of time, I'll just use my main PC anyway
