• People are at home because they're employers have told them to be, not because they're taking this seriously.

    This.

Had to go and pick up my dad's prescription today as they're self-isolating due to showing symptoms and it was as busy if not slightly more busy than any other day i've been out during the working week.

Really surprised me as i handn't left the house since Wednesday last week and assumed that many other people were taking the same precautions based on advice...

  • Maybe they were there to get their dad's prescription because they were self isolating?

Pubs, cafes, and restaurants are down 69% on last year according to something I read earlier today (quote below). If that's not a metric demonstrating that people are out less I don't know what is. Not to mention cinemas, museums, libraries, theatres all closed.

Sales at UK restaurants, cafes, and pubs are down 69% compared with
the same week last year, according to stats from retail data company
Tenzo, which monitors sales of hospitality businesses in the UK.

After a week of constant decline, the company said, revenue losses had
already started to translate into closures, with 8% of the sites they
monitored having shut up shop, either temporarily or permanently.

Faced with the prospect of footfall declining further, many cafes and
restaurants are turning to delivery platforms in an effort to keep
revenue up: food delivery apps are some of the only businesses
expected to benefit from the coming downturn.

  • That tallies almost exactly with our building's visitor management systems - 71% decrease on our normal load.
