  • Two weeks wfh so no commutes. Miss getting hit by cars already.

  • You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone 😪

  • London Bridge is under roadworks atm, and if anyone is commuting a via this bridge it is probably best to find an alternative route.

  • Few cars on the road this morning but the remaining ones were driving as if they hadn't done it for years.

  • Day off today for me, but there were deffo less cars (and bikes) on the roads on Friday.

Mind you, we sold 8 bikes over the weekend, all to people who didn’t want to use public transport during the current crisis, so that could turn out to be A Thing.

  • Thought it was quite busy with cars on cs7 this morning, also a lot of cyclists. The impromptu five rider chain gang up into town was not good with my hangover this morning.

  • I've seen more traffic on a Sunday compared to today and the fair weather cyclists at work are now coming in by bike and complaining about how cold it is.....

  • Cold? I thought it was lovely this morning. Shorts, jersey and thin wind jacket was all that was needed and felt great.

  • Yeah it was perfect but if this is coming from the people that cycle in about 1 week of the year when its hot enough for them,

  • I cycle year-round and it was "4C, feels like 2C" this morning, I'd say that is 'cold' for London. Not really short lycra weather for me, that's maybe 8+ degrees.

  • Must have just warmed up a bit by the time I set off then. Defintely wasn't that cold.

  • Not cold, just the wind was low today which helps to contruibute to the warmer ride in this morning.

  • I'm so glad the Mare Street Narrow Way now has a daily market on it so that there can be several transit vans, pickups and cars reversing around and parking up every morning and evening as people walk and cycle around. This added to the 10-15 mopeds that all park up waiting for McDonalds delivery orders to come in throughout the day and night make for a lovely pedestrianised space where we can all breath in rank fumes and listen to revving engines in a safe environment.

  • That clearly needs to be managed better, especially the mopeds (which shouldn't be in the space at all). It's not unusual to have teething problems like this, so hopefully they'll find better ways. Do write to the Hackney Central ward councillors about it.

In a sense, the return of a market is welcome. Mare Street, of course, used to be the centre of Hackney partly because that's where the market was. I don't know how long ago it was axed, or whether it was still there when the one-way system (that was partly removed again in 1987) came in.

The councillors can talk to Markets and get them to make changes.

  • No trouble working out where the puncture was this morning.

  • No more commuting :(

  • hopefully that's due to working from home rather than other reasons...

  • Much quieter on cs7 into Vauxhall this morning, lot less cars but still a fair few bikes

  • oh yeah it is, but still - don't know when i'll be doing my commute again, miss it already!

  • i was thinking if i have to start WFH i'm going to try and get out for a ride during my normal commute times but just loop back to home, for fitness and a bit of head space...

I did that this morning and I highly recommended it. Roads are very quiet with very few cyclists.

  • Roads around east are still busy tbh, Cars have reduced but still the same twat driving and using their phones whilst driving.

  • Very quiet through the city today

I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. Still at work for the moment, though.

  • i think the trick is to stay motivated to get out and ride - i'm definitely going to find it hard to persuade myself to get out, but i know ill feel better for it afterwards
