• Felt good to stretch my legs, same walk as yesterday - still short of breath but less so than before.

  • Day 4 of mostly mild symptoms. Can't say it was too bad apart from a rough night last night with temperature up at 37.6 this morning when I checked.
I'm only worried my partner won't catch it off me and we can spend a better week indoors next week.
Afternoon walks in the park ftw. Come on spring hurry up.

  • Ending day 1 of being isolated in the plague house and I now have a persistant dry cough and tight chest. No temperature though and feel ok so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
    Medicinal glass of wine now.

  • re Homebrew.
Just got an email through from the company saying they are receiving and processing an unprecedented amount of orders but trying to keep up with demand. Lol.

  • Funnily enough booze section of local supermarkets have been plentiful...

  • Charlotte Warren-Gash

    Pah! Obviously a stage name.

  • Kinda glad it wasn't a straight shoot-out between Mrs Ru much needed private Covid-test and the homebrew kit ;-)

  • 1yr old started coughing last night. Persistent dry cough. Coughed all night. Kept us up a lot and we were like "this is it, here comes the rollercoaster", kept everyone home today but the cough has all but disappeared.
Partner has been coming down with something for a few days but no Corona symptoms.
Today I started to get mild aches (back, shoulders, head) but no other symptoms.
Other child mentioned headache but he is very empathetic and will "have" anything anyone else does so it's difficult to tell but he's clearly knackered. Both kids their usual selves.

Do we continue to isolate for 2 weeks (bear in mind 4 people in a small house)?
We may not have it and then have to spend another 2 weeks isolated when one of us actually goes down with it.
We can't isolate the family every time someone sneezes so I'm leaning towards un-isolating if the cough stays away tonight. From other accounts I'm reading it's not an overnight illness.

    Am I being stupid?

  • Much wrong about a private company profiteering of people anxiety.

    Hope shes okay, sorry.

  • Well yes. Ideally those with symptoms, particularly if high risk, would be tested so we have proper clarity.
Thanks anyway. So far nothing to overly worry about.

  • I remembered reading this earlier.

    Are people getting private tests?
Yes. They are being offered at nearly £400 a time. Celebrities such as Idris Elba and some footballers appear to have paid for them. PHE says it has not validated and approved any private tests, and there may be some that are bogus. However, Vallance has also said the government was looking at all possible providers of an antibody test for the NHS, including the private sector.

Testing for coronavirus: what is being done in the UK?

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/17/testing-for-coronavirus-what-being-done-in-uk?

    Sorry I don't have a better source.

  • I can relate to this, thankfully no kids tho'... We're both indoors with colds (which I brought home from work because selfish prick colleagues) but I'm gonna WFH from next week, I can't risk getting my OH sick with this thing...

I'm higher risk too so that's also something else to think/worry about...

  • So it looks like I am over the worst of it now. I was most likely exposed at work (three confirmed cases as of yesterday) or during a visit to the urgent care centre at Guy's early last week. Will be off work for 14 days.

I can't say for certain if it was the virus, but it was certainly like nothing I have had before in the past. My joints and muscles felt like they were on fire up until the weekend. I have a minor cough but no breathing problems.

My older son had a fever on Sunday but now seems to be alright.

I think the cabin fever will be the thing that will cause the most damage. In that, we are most likely to have to get outside and inadvertantly breach any social distancing guidelines.

  • it was certainly like nothing I have had before in the past.

Did it floor you? Were you unable to leave bed?

  • Good to hear you're over the worst of it - it's the reports of the terrible fever and just being wiped out that's got me wondering if I/we really have/had it, however all of us, within the space of a week had clear symptoms ranging from very mild (in my case) to quite nasty and unable to do much else but rest in toddler and wife's case - of course, as testing is becoming more publicised (amongst the rich/famous) it's becoming clear that one can have it with no or very very mild symptoms. We're heading for a walk later (rural living means we can easily avoid close proximity with others) before we all go mental and we end up killing each other (by that I mean, my wife ends up killing me)

  • Two heavy colds in our house. Lots of snot. Sore throats. No cough. No fever. Obviously not Covid-19. But not obvious enough to stop people viewing our runny noses like death devices.

Not that we are going out much. Just taking dog to the vet and basing this on looks from people in the waiting room.

  • Do we continue to isolate for 2 weeks (bear in mind 4 people in a small house)?

I don't think you're being stupid but 1 year old's new, persistent cough says yes I'm afraid. You can't isolate the family every time someone sneezes no but a persistent dry cough is one of the two key symptoms.

Maybe try and get some medical advice from NHS 111 or elsewhere?

  • it's becoming clear that one can have it with no or very very mild symptoms.

The government have been saying from the start that many (even most) people will get very mild or no symptoms to be fair. Define mild though...

  • I've had a 'fuzzy' head ache and sore muscles for the past few days.
I feel like I'm slightly hungover and been exercising too much. But I haven't drank much booze or done much exercise apart from my usual 6km cycle to work and a glass of wine at the weekend.

I live with my wife and work with one other person, who hasn't been in the office with me for the past 2 weeks anyway. My wife is working from home. So I am socially distancing myself without much effort.

I'm trying to decide if I should lock myself in the spare bedroom, or just carry on as I have been?

  • True enough, but as I hear about others' really nasty symptoms, I was/am still having moments where I think "well, I can't have it then" but as more actual people declare they've got it but no/mild symptoms it reminds me I may have.

  • Well, I'm a confirmed case now. Keeping family in as well obviously. Feels like I have a really bad cold with slight temperature, cough and sore throat. No muscle/joint pain.

  • Blimey, take care, guys... ❤️

  • Hope that you stay safe and only mildly affected and the knowing provides a bit of a relief now the wondering is over. Fingers crossed for the family of course. All the best

  • Exactly the same situation here. It's all a bit of a mind fuck really, isn't it?

Other half is absolutely convinced I don't have coronavirus. I don't think I do actually, but am I sure? No, not at all. And I'm pretty damn sick actually, just not with the two stated main symptoms (I have a dry cough but not continuous and no fever).

Against my advice, he has gone out for a long bike ride today because he's booked the day off. We're supposed to be self-isolating. Did eventually persuade him not to stop at a cafe at least :/
