If you are young and fit then GET OUT THERE AND GET IT !!!!!!!
Are you fucking serious with this post?

• #4779
Sadly, probably, yes. And everyone was doing so well at ignoring it too.

Then you will be immune and unable to infect people
That is not true. You will be a vector for transmission.
-
• #4781
Timed my response badly then!
-
• #4782
Doesn't work though, does it. You can't go out there and get it without the risk that you already have it and have been spreading it around.

Sounds like the government are getting a hand from the BBC for their inevitable u-turn as more and more scientists criticise the UK approach to the delay phase.
Except the government isn't changing approach, the science has changed apparently. Cough.

As far as I know, Norwegian are offering actual refunds for flights that they've cancelled - but that wouldn't apply to trips that you have cancelled yourself:
This information is for flights that have been cancelled due to COVID-19
If you no longer wish to travel, you can cancel your booking online and apply for reimbursement of your ticket.
Two problems there of course - 'apply for reimbursement' doesn't sound great, and even if they were to agree they should refund you, the question is whether they actually have any money to do that with... I think I'll end up slightly out of pocket for my own flight too.

The detailed study that @The.Gren posted a link to demonstrates very well why what he's saying is dangerously stupid. If he isn't bright enough to work that out for himself, I don't think that reason and logical argument are going to make much headway. An opinion piece in the Daily Mail might, but I even then it could be touch and go.

where the fuck are you pulling this shit from?
Even a percentage of younger people will need hospitalised and require intensive care, especially if they have unknown conditions and the virus is thought to leave permanent damage to the lungs.
In the process of your "then GET OUT THERE AND GET IT !!!!!!!" you're also looking at them spreading it to others who might not want it and be impacted far worse.
Pretty fucking sure qualified personnel will also already be in ICU's, and that you're not going to train up recently infected folk to be ward nurses in the coming days and weeks.
Unless you've got some mystery credentials in infectious diseases and disaster management to be able to issue meaningful advice to people on the internet I'd suggest you sit down and STFU-there's a reason why no country anywhere in the world is spouting this gash.

I thought there is also a concern of perm lung damage even to young people? like reduced 10-20% capacity?

The CSA's estimates for number of cases are basically the current number of deaths in the UK multiplied by 1,000, per this tweet here:
https://mobile.twitter.com/neil_ferguson/status/1234944654799495168
For clarity - I was referring to reply from Neil Ferguson

Given they're not testing you cant use the cases figures any more. News agencies should stop quoting them outright.
You all need to then factor it due to delay between getting sick and dying. And that still does not account for asymptomatic cases. So it will be even higher. Sorry that's what the tweet says, didnt read reply.

Did you read the link?
Neil Ferguson posits that deaths now tell you how many people were infected three weeks ago. So 56 deaths to date implies there were 5,500 cases three weeks ago, and the number of cases will have multiplied 10 x in a three week period, hence the CSA's assumption that there are 55,000 cases in the UK today.
Basically, enough is known about the virus to estimate the number of cases today from the number of deaths to date.
Ps - the CSA estimated 10k cases last Thursday when there has been 10 deaths, so I'm fairly sure he is using Neil Ferguson's rule of thumb.

Yes sorry. My point was, news agencies as still quoting a cases figure, from testing, not this calcuatled cases figures which they should be using.
Though looking on the guardian now they are reporting 55k. I went there as earlier today I saw them publish a tested cases graph when discussing cases.

I think I've got it. So far only mild symptoms. Started with much coughing on Saturday, then a small temperature last night. The whole thing atm feels like a mild flue. I just hope it doesn't get worse than it is right now and I'm over it in a few days.
My next door neighbours are also self-isolating and they're having it much worse right now.
Still I'll be staying at home next week as well.
I wonder what BoJo is gonna come up next to keep us entertained. -
• #4795
Someone I had a meeting with on Friday has all the symptoms, looks like I will be isolating at home for a while, there were about 10 of us in the meeting and none of us could easily find out what we should do... shambles.

Theres a thread for that now

My uni sent out an email at 12 saying all teaching and labs are to be closed at 5pm by security and to gather all your stuff.

If you are young and fit then GET OUT THERE AND GET IT !!!!!!!
Please shut the fuck up.
can you reverse the credit card charge? might mean you can never fly norwegian again, but if they won't provide service and won't give you the hard cash back, then breach of contracts.
And while they might claim they changed refund policies, they CANNOT legally change pre-existing contracts. I'm about to have this fight with United ;)
