• So my girlfriend has started getting a cough, she says it feels like something is pressing on her lungs, it's been like that a couple of days now. How long does Corona take to develop properly, as in, when will I know if it's definitely that?

  • ^ can’t help you much for a diagnosis here, dude. But as I understand it, without a test result, you can’t really know either way (and they tend not to test unless a hospital admission now - even some health professionals appear not to be getting tested). Obviously the guidelines for isolation kick in though. Hope you and girlfriend are ok.

  • On a lighter note, how feasible is wheelbuilding (at least lacing spokes) in bed?

  • Yeah that's the thing, assuming it doesn't get so bad as to know it's definitely Corona it would be nice to know if I'm carrying it too.

  • I've been having this tightness in my chest for a couple of days now, sort of comes and goes and is especially noticeable when I'm feeling anxious about all of this. Impossible to say if the anxiety causes the tightness or the other way round, no signs of fever and feeling mostly fine besides being a nervous wreck every couple hours.

Have stayed inside since days before the chest tightness started, see the anxiety comment. Just hoping it doesn't escalate any further and that I'll just ride out the mild symptoms.

  • Can confirm that rapidly worsening global pandemic with extremely vulnerable loved ones has not been good for my anxiety either.

  • So my cough and phlegm gas been noticeably worse today and there's been some hacking up of 'greeners' but still only at the mildly uncomfortable/annoying stage of 'illness'; if it's Covid-19, for me at least, it's a slow burner!!

  • Fingers crossed mate; try and find calm in religiously following 'the advice' if that helps at all

  • Euph?

    Definitely

Also, wheeziness is back again. Ugh!

    Stay cool and safe, everyone.

  • phlegm gas

    Sounds lovely

  • We're in lockdown. Missus-ru has a temperature and slight cough. She has no spleen so is in the high risk category, but no testing unless she's hospitalised. She's beside herself with not knowing so is stumping up for a private test. I have slightly eye-rolled, but as she says, otherwise she won't know whether she is safe to continue normal life after 2 weeks and will be locked down for 12 weeks at least.
So trying to work, care for her and make 2 kids do some schoolwork. 4 hours into a 2 week stretch. Oh my.

  • Rough situation.. don't envy you!

Think it's fair enough getting a private test tbh if the anxiety is going to be there. How much is it out of interest?

  • Thanks. Sure there'll be plenty in worse states.

    It was £375 i think.

Made a massive vat of bolognese last night and have homebrew kit arriving later, so survival rations are being looked after.

  • I feel like I've got some of the symptoms but only at a very mild level right now. Would dismiss it as not Covid, but whenever something goes round work that knocks several colleagues for six I never seem to suffer more than a bit of a cold. Haven't had a day off work in over ten years. Whether that's of any relevance to how my immune system might deal with coronavirus I've no idea.

Live by myself and have plenty of stuff in so I'm quite prepared to sit it out if necessary. However I'm fucked if I'm isolating myself every time I feel a bit under the weather (and for several days after recovering). This lack of testing is gonna become a proper pain in the tits.

  • All the best to you both and I dare say if I was in the same situation and could get the money together (even if a struggle) for a private test I likely would

  • homebrew kit

All the good ideas appear on here. Amazing!

    Best to Mrs ru

  • Cheers. Hope you and the family feel better soon.

  • £375 is less than I thought it might be tbh, hope it comes back negative.

I felt like I was coming down with something yesterday-tickle in throat, coughing a few times and felt fevered but temp actually lower than normal. Three people in my partner's team have it and her sister apparently hacking away now and she ate with us on Sat.

Today feeling ok again. How the hell are you supposed to know if you have super mild symptoms? Would be v. Reassuring to have testing on hand and definitely save a lot of worry if you knew you'd already had it and can help out parents etc again.

  • Feeling better today, but definitely feeling it more on my chest - bit of a headache lingering, but didn't wake up really aching in my joints like yesterday, hopefully over the hump of it. Will probably venture for a 20 mins walk in the woods to see how I fare.

Hope everyone's not feeling it too much. The unknown deffo seems the most stressful part (he says, with no kids etc).

  • I'd be tempted to not go for a walk maybe just sit and have a cuppa and read for 10 mins in the fresh air. So easy to feel a bit better and then over-do it, even though a gentle stroll would, ordinarily, seem as far from over-doing it as you can imagine

  • Covid-19: ibuprofen should not be used for managing symptoms, say doctors and scientists

  • That was the last time I took ‘advice’ from a virologist specialist over a cycling forum :D

  • People are just trying to do their best I guess, and the situation is constantly evolving of course.

  • True true.
