Cheers, that sounds sensible. Right now I’m just doing some kind of shambling jog with short steps, as 30-odd years of cycling means my legs are only used to going around in tiny circles. I’ll need to take a good couple of weeks to work out a proper stride length and gait, and I have to learn to land properly too.
@nefarious, thanks, I’ll get that done too, once I’ve sorted out some sort of actual running style.

Spoke to Suunto support and they said it’s normal for the App to take 48 hrs to update strava!
Thats not normal

I'm meant to be doing the Shakespeare marathon at the end of April. It's a v small affair compared to others but obviously it's on a date where others have been adjourned. I wonder if they'll push this one back too?

Yep looks like it's been cancelled, which is a shame.

That is certainly not my experience. The only time it takes a bit longer to get to Strava is on Sundays. I figure this is either because of all the weekend warriors putting load on Strava/Suunto's servers, or my runs tend to be longer on a Sunday meaning there is more data to transfer (though the file sizes aren't exactly huge and it's just text) or a combination of both. Never taken 48 hours!

A 12.5 min 5k. Fark

I don’t think they’re his PB’s (12.5min etc are world records) they just show which numbers go where.

48 hours later and nothing has transferred to strava from the Suunto app. from reading around seems this is common and Suunto don’t give a fuck.

My watch didn't get a signal in over an hour while we were running round Richmond Park. So rubbish.

ah...
I was gonna say he looks a bit quick!

That's a shame. I like my Spartan but this would be a deal breaker for me as I've used Strava to log everything for years. Odd that it's fine for some and so troublesome for you and others though.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Bummer!

As a result (of the coronavirus), England Athletics advises that all face-to-face activity such as club training sessions, events, competitions, club committee and face-to-face meetings, athlete camps, running groups and social events should be suspended until at least the end of April.

We've cancelled all club runs until further notice ☹️

I probably won't be doing much outdoors riding for a little bit, but wondering on the ethics on heading out for a (solo) run. Feels like a lower risk than cycling in terms of accidents/strain on emergency services, and maintains isolation, so should be ok? Views?

Garmin Forerunners and syncing with iPhones. Seems quite painful at the moment. The connect app doesn't register it, even though the ConnectIQ store picks it up right away. Any tricks?

Disable bluetooth and re-enable. That fixes it 90% of the time.
The remaining 10% of the time I have to kill the app and restart it.

On the phone or the watch>?

Absolutely fine. Even people isolating are allowed out for exercise as long as they maintain social distancing and hygiene.
I'm not isolating but I'll go and do my usual 5k loop this afternoon. I rarely ever get to within 2 yards of anyone on this run anyway so it's not going to be a problem. The leper bell and shouting "Unclean, unclean!" will keep them further away.

On the iPhone. Haven't had to fiddle with anything on the watch itself for months (if turning off/on Bluetooth on the phone and restarting the app on the phone don't work then turning the watch off/on again is the last resort).
It does seem to have got worse in the last few months, I have to turn BT off/on on the phone pretty much every day to get it to sync, never used to.

I've ditched going to the gym, which is a shame cos rowing was going rather well. I reckon outdoor running should be a pretty low-risk activity. Will try to control the snot-rockets, don't want to alarm anyone too much.
