Thing is, you leave a watch in a winder for a couple of weeks, it's quite possible that it's a couple of minutes out by the time you come to put it back on so you need to re-set the time anyway.
I can totally understand it with an annual or perpetual calendar that's a ballache to re-set. Without a date at all it takes no time to give a watch a quick wind and set it.
