  • how else am i going to work myself enough up to spend big bucks on a direct drive trainer?

  • The borders are semi-closed like Germany and France from what colleagues are telling me.

  • Just go all in.
    Buy it now.

  • This is my salvation right now... getting so many miles kilometres done.

  • Bloody hell thats awesome, what is the full set up and cost for that?

  • Nice setup, can you get an ebike version?

  • kilometers

Please maintain your dignity in these hard times.

  • I'm not a fan.

  • I think it's worth sharing this:

Britain got the timing of its new measures “about right”, Prof
Ferguson has said in the last few minutes on BBC Radio 4.

There could be a need to escalate still further, he adds, citing the
    case of France.

Asked if the measures taken in Britain should have been taken sooner,
he said that he believed the UK was still behind the epidemic seen in
    other European countries.

“I overall think we have got the timing about right.

“We are about three weeks behind Italy, two weeks behind France and
Spain, so we are making these decisions in a more timely manner but
certainly there wasn’t any time to lose.”

That's the first author of the report released by Imperial yesterday evening on the differing strategies for containment.

  • For anything thinking about getting a fancy turbo trainer, the Flux S is the best priced direct drive + smart (controllable by zwift) one at the moment.

  • (I also ordered a trainer yesterday. Getting ready to put in some Zwift miles/kms).

    *edit: kms.

  • Pls bring back rep.

  • I just sold my turbo. Already regret.

  • Not really

  • 500 sheets! Ouch!

  • I was just days away from packing up my smart trainer - which is deployed when needed in the kitchen, which is the only hard floor with enough space for it in the house - as we are due to have extensive building works start on Monday. As far as the conversation has gone with the builder, he's still ready to start on Monday. I'd trust him to work in a phased way anyway, so he's not going to immediately start ripping the oven and washing machine, and will keep everything reasonably tidy - but what are the chances that any further Gov restrictions take everything out of both our hands? Am I going to order and pay for a skip, steel beams or an Ikea kitchen that I don't see for months or at all? Will I need the money I am spending on this to make mortgage payments when we're both out of a job, or just to pay the wasteland warriors not to eat us? Waiting for the builder to suggest a course of action, and see if it becomes literally impossible anyway by Monday.

But yes, my point is, if it doesn't happen then I will be rinsing the turbo.

  • Yeah, if you don't care about the controllable-by-zwift part you can get a £100 magnetic turbo and change the resistance yourself, it can calculate power from a speedo. Alternatively buy a real cheap turbo and a second hand power meter then you know you've got accurate numbers and can use it out in the real world too.

  • Also wondering if my Asgard shed still turns up this week.

    Edit:

"We haven’t been affected and it is Business as normal. Our factory is still running and deliveries are still going ahead. Any delays will be communicated with our customers but at present, your delivery is still going ahead."

  • £££ unfortunately.

    1. Wattbike Atom - £1,800
    2. Apple TV - £180
    3. Cheapest 4k 40" TV i could find - £240
    4. Floor fan - £40
    5. Zwift subscription - £12 a month

Also worth pointing out that there's a very real chance that the pandemic might actually be over before Wattbike deliver your Atom if you order one... took 12 weeks for mine to be delivered last year.

  • Imagine how popular you will be with your mates/ housemates/ family if you bring it back and spread it around and then one of their/ your gran dies.

What with the pandemic on, whatever I bring home, including food packaging and said salvaged bike parts, gets scrubbed with a clean microfibre cloth doused in alcohol. Stopped buying fresh fruit and veg a long time ago. Go with frozen instead. Our daily household cleaning routine looks like a South Korean civil defence squad going through a train minus the PPE. Good enough for you?

Also, exercise boosts the immune system and keeps Jack from becoming a dull boy. Am Finnish so own an axe.

  • I have to admit I really want to go to the gym.

  • 100% correct. Sorry.

  • Which one did you go for ?

  • I think Sweden are closing high schools now? There was just a press conference but my Swedish is not perfect so didn’t catch it all.

I would translate but the Folkhälsomyndigheten (public health authority) website seems to have crashed.
