  • Good to hear (at least some suggestion) they’re not bollocks.

Fuck I´m kicking myself for not having taken notes. My days consist of going out for a daily ride with the kids, preparing meals and scrubbing. The rest of the time I watch/read media outlets, read/watch accounts by experts. And be a besserwisser prick on an outdated bike forum obvs. ;)

I´ll have a crack at finding that interview. It was a Dutch scientist talking to one of the many arms of the Dutch public broadcasting system.

  • My concern is that the scrutiny won't occur, so anything may go.

  • Can I go mountain biking if I don’t stop in the cafe? Seems ok to me.

  • Just use your own common sense was the ultimate advice.
If you've had it and recovered but someone else is ill after 14 days, this situation would fall into common sense.

I'd say you're OK to go out, as long as symptoms gone for a good few days, but just take care.

  • Just don't fall off and need medical help.
Or tell others, for fear of their high horse.

  • Cycling seems like pretty ideal social distancing to me.
Planning a rural mountain bike weekend in wales with a friend for a couple weeks time.

  • Can I go mountain biking if I don’t stop in the cafe? Seems ok to me.

Well the likes of Corbyn, and many others, are ignoring the advice for over 70s to stay home, so why can't the under 70s ignore advice, and do what we want.

  • It’s very low risk but why would you add to any potential risk for the NHS for a small personal gain?

  • Free course by London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine - starts 23 march

Thank you very much, signed up.

  • If you are working from home the last thing you need is kids running around.

Some of that depends on the age of the kids. Felt awful sending my 14 and 11 year olds off to school this morning.

  • Just don't fall off and need medical help.

Basically this. If it goes well fine, but if you need any assistance at all it turns into a really selfish thing to do.

  • @pacef8

Don't listen to this. Yes, you might be likely to get it, we all might. That point is absolutely not "you’re going to get it sooner or later [so may as well get it sooner]".

If you do get it now from your trip to London, whatever you feel the odds are, and you take it back to from wherever you came from, how would you feel if that was then passed on to someone more vulnerable or more people than it needed to be passed on to? If you can just not take the trip to London and add to the prevention of adding immediate/acute burden to health/support services, then don't do it.

  • I bought some rims and hubs last week for exactly this reason. Just hope they're able to be delivered now...

  • addressing individual differences are my expertise.

That sounds like an interesting specialisation. What is it you do?

  • If you're after a stress/ anxiety relief tool, last night I built a wheel while listening to some old favourite tunes and having a beer. When building a wheel it's really difficult to think of anything else, so I recommend it if you need a couple of hours of headspace.

This is perhaps the best bit of advive so far, as far as mental health is concerned. May I add that in case you lack wheel parts, go for a solo ride first and rummage bins behind bike shops. My usual Omnium/Wallaroo 50k ride usually yields a shitload of perfectly serviceable if not new parts. A couple of days ago I came home with a brand new front disc wheel with a Deore hub and a Cube-branded rim, presumably because the customer wanted generator lights.

  • This. Imagine how popular you will be with your mates/ housemates/ family if you bring it back and spread it around and then one of their/ your gran dies.

  • You need to maintain some sort of activity. Once full scale lockdowns kick in you’ll be tearing at the front door. You should stop at the cafe, they’ll need the custom. Just distance yourself, stand back from the counter a little and sit apart from other people.

Don’t take silly risks and ride for fun not thrills.

  • Of possible help for @aggi and @plantasia (and anyone else who has pregnancy questions), I saw PANDAS mentioned this morning - it may be of help to you?
    https://twitter.com/Pandas_uk

  • The 14 days isn’t for everyone to recover, it’s enough time for family members to show signs of infection if it’s been transmitted.

  • Rumors about a Belgian lockdown now.

  • Rumours was an alright album for singing along too.
Other than that, I don't think rumours is/are worth repeating/paying much attention to.

  • Panic bought myself a home gym yesterday, if we go into lockdown I’m getting hench AF.

  • Rumours was an alright album

Come on - it was a bit better than that

  • I think Sweden are closing high schools now? There was just a press conference but my Swedish is not perfect so didn’t catch it all.

  • Well due to the Swiss status change last night, United cancelled my flight home. Didn't bother to even email/call me, oh and no refund either.

    Jesus they are terrible
