Replying to Chung about wearing a mask because his mate would be happier if he did.
That’s pretty much the only reason I can see to wear one, even out here in HK its about showing face (respect to others) as it puts people at ease and shows consideration for them. If your mate would benefit from this then great. Just remember that it puts a lot of westerners at unease since their view of someone wearing a mask is that you are doing so because you are ill and should be tucked up indoors.

As long as you are well and keeping your social distance then yes. If you are supposed to be self isolating, then no.

So I've moved to Seoul, South Korea exactly a week ago now. Since then Corona peaked and cooled down quite a bit I think while it seems like it started exploding in Europe.
The streets and the campus are a bit emptier than usual I'm told and everyone - literally everyone - is wearing a mask. But that's not so uncommon in Korea anyways.
Life somehow continues without big change here. Neither is anyone queueing up on anything nor are people starting to stock up their toilet papers. I think the people here have trust in the government to do a proper job which is quite unfamiliar to me -

But you make it sound like it's specific to the virus. Plz don't spread false information. Its for those that have a deficiency to make them slightly healthier.
Next we're going to hear VIT D CURES CORONA

Currently stuck in Indonesia trying to work out how to get back to the UK. Was originally meant to travel back through Singapore however the way our flights are arranged, we aren’t able to transit through without quarantining in Singapore for 14 days. Couple of days ago we booked new flights back through Istanbul but have read today that flights for the UK have been banned.
Currently exploring other options now. It’s really hard to keep track of what’s happening with stuff moving so fast, and information changing/not being super clear. Hopefully will find a route home over the next couple of days. -

If you're after a stress/ anxiety relief tool, last night I built a wheel while listening to some old favourite tunes and having a beer. When building a wheel it's really difficult to think of anything else, so I recommend it if you need a couple of hours of headspace.

Odds are you’re going to get it sooner or later. At least you get a day of peace and tranquility in the deserted streets of London before everything gets closed.

Closing the schools is a difficult call.
Its estimated it would cause a 10-20% reduction in health worker availability as they would need to stay at home to look after their kids.
"Closing schools" here across the Channel means teachers still working, manning e-learning computers, while a handful of kids, including those of healthcare workers, continue to show up. See here for eerie footage of a school in the Netherlands with a capacity of 120 pupils teaching three instead, starts at about 7:00:

In case you don´t suffer from the Low German throat disorder, the mum of the pupil who´s alone in a classroom with a teacher works in food processing.

yeah, thought it was going to be 80% of the pupils showing up. Was more like 10% here in Belgium. Don't think lot's of parents are actually working from home..
-
• #4545
If you are working from home the last thing you need is kids running around.

I’m confused by the official advice. If you have symptoms you are meant to self isolate at home. This had been extended to 14 days now because, if I’ve understood, it time for the infected person to recover and any family members who catch it to then recover? But the advice is still that the infected person stays in a seperate room and avoids coming within 2m of family, sharing kitchen etc?
Why extend the time to allow family members to get it but also try your hardest not to infect family members? When the two weeks is up if you are successful another family member could catch it and the process starts again.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter. We've massively overreacted globally. Long term we're doing more damage than the lives we save.
