That clearly needs to be managed better, especially the mopeds (which shouldn't be in the space at all). It's not unusual to have teething problems like this, so hopefully they'll find better ways. Do write to the Hackney Central ward councillors about it.

In a sense, the return of a market is welcome. Mare Street, of course, used to be the centre of Hackney partly because that's where the market was. I don't know how long ago it was axed, or whether it was still there when the one-way system (that was partly removed again in 1987) came in.
The councillors can talk to Markets and get them to make changes.

I'm so glad the Mare Street Narrow Way now has a daily market on it so that there can be several transit vans, pickups and cars reversing around and parking up every morning and evening as people walk and cycle around. This added to the 10-15 mopeds that all park up waiting for McDonalds delivery orders to come in throughout the day and night make for a lovely pedestrianised space where we can all breath in rank fumes and listen to revving engines in a safe environment.
