Cases updated but not deaths... slightly worrying for transparency.

Shit time to be a seller I think...

How long till the "CASES ARE DOWN" headlines, in spite of that being because they are testing less people?

I was keeping an eye on the guidance last week to make sure I did the right thing when I returned from my snowboard trip in Austria but it changed so much it started to get really confusing as to what I would actually need to be doing. I ended up with the belief that I just had to check I didn't have a continuous cough or a fever, having neither of them I decided I must be ok to return to work.

Will there be boost to bike shops as people avoid public transport?
No.
At the moment my company is trying to ride it out by closing/selling stores and offering new position elsewhere, this is TBC as we’re suppose to get letters about our employments.
The WFH have an impact as the majority of customer are commuter zing my shop.

Shit news! Sorry.

It is very confusing I must admit.
I got into some light trouble with work because I misunderstood some comms from them, and they misunderstood my email update to them. They thought I had been asked to self-isolate so confirmed back to me that they agreed, but I was just being pro-active as I'd been unwell.
To me, I didn't really see a problem, I was working from home, it's no different to working from a different office. Any way, no big deal, I was in the clear, but actually while I was off the guidelines changed that if you're unwell and you've had any symptoms, self-isolate for 7 days after symptoms end. So technically while I was at home the guidelines changed so that I was right to do what I did. Now they've changed again and there's no mention of it.
Fair enough, I'm employed by my work so I can't just make decisions by myself on where I work because I'm worried about infecting people, but I do think it's special circumstances and a bit more co-ordination would be nice.

Wondering why we are reporting cases since you only get tested if ill enough to be admitted to hospital. It seems pretty irrelevant.

• #4310
Quite but then could be accused of hiding that data I guess.

Sorry to hear this Ed.
Think this is going to be a pretty shitty time for lots of folks and maybe we should all be a little bit more considered with our posts on this thread. -

For whoever asked about the briefing today, they said it'd be 4:45 on World At 1

This would still be a good thing. It would mean a decline in hospitalizations of patients with the virus. Which would be a good indicator for the public as a whole.
I wouldn't expect to see those headlines soon, however.

At least we are only stockpiling bog roll and pasta. In Murica they are queuing up to buy extra guns and ammo. I don't see that ending well.
-

We have a large surplus of pasta, rice and tinned goods at work, amassed for our rough sleepers' project, which looks like it will be suspended from tomorrow. I'm in two minds whether to sell it on eBay or donate to some of the many isolated elderly people round here

Yeah, in the absence of clear guidance, we're tempted to interpret what there is as: came back from a largely unaffected area, self-isolated with no symptoms for a week for either gf or wean, should be ok to un-isolate. We just don't want to be pricks if there is any danger.

sorry to hear that..

Can you sit on it, and use it appropriately in the future?

The mind bogrolls
Only in Britain

We've been told we can wear casual clothes to the office. Not entirely sure why.

I hold onto it for a couple of weeks. Might be very handy for those isolated by then.
(Mind you, seeing people on ebay selling bog roll for £60, maybe cash in and use the proceeds later.)

eeing people on ebay selling bog roll for £60
Seriously? Fucking hell.
-
• #4323
who the fuck is buying bogroll at 60 quid?! I'd wipe my arse with my Rapha kit before doing that.

Sell bog roll and buy accommodation for homeless people when the housing market crashes

There are three large local charities with some emergency funding to provide services for rough sleepers that will meet immediate needs for many of those we work with. It's all about emergency relief for them right now, whereas we provide an advice and referrals service (with food), so I'm happy that our people will be fed. In the meantime, I'll look to see what we can usefully do with our stock as there will other needs and I don't expect our services will be back up and running for the foreseeable.
Unfortunately we might be about to find out!
