So is this now officially the start of #yentzingseason ?
-
• #152890
Every day that passes means we’re close to a null and void situation. From a PL perspective they should just send the top 4 teams as is into the CL and raffle the EL places off to whoever is interested.
-
• #152891
Top 5 as City can't enter CL. I can't see how they can finish the season. Best to end it now and start the yenzing.
-
• #152893
You should all be isolating, it’s the start of self yentzing season, or working from home as it’s referred to in polite society. Why else have people been stocking up on rolls of paper jis catcher?

I am particularly liking the football solution to this:
Award the winners don't punish those who'd suffer. Extend EPL to 22 next season. They're so thoughtful aren't they? So caring and compassionate.
I think season finishes now. In the positions everyone is now and just accept it.
-
• #152895
Or you just get stats bomb and five thirty-eight to model the positions from here.
-
• #152896
Actually. Just do this all the time.

I thought - much to my pal's consternation who said it was a ridiculous idea - sacrifice the cup competitions next year (Europe might be anyway) and simply bolt this season onto next. That seems the only way there'd be no organisational prejudice against any individual team; everyone would have had the same restrictions and opportunities (as far as those which are impacted by the FA etc).
-
• #152898
Nope.
Write the season off, no winners, no losers, same teams qualify for Europe (other than Man City due to their ban, no one replaces them). -

The problem with these suggestions is that there's no guarantee whether the next season will be able to start in August 2020.
What if you cancel the current season but then there not in a position to play matches again until February 2021? If that was the case the most logical thing would to be to finish off the current season in that time, hold the Euros in 2021 and rearrange whatever Nations League shite was going to run through the summer of 2021.
Sure, loads of players will be out of contract, loads of other stuff will be up the spout, but most teams will be in exactly the same situation.
What to do if you can start again June 2020? August 2020? June 2021? etc, all different scenarios.
Until there's a idea of when football is starting again there's little point deciding what to do.

I agree in as much I think that's the best idea however I also acknowledge that that would carry a significant of inequality (what if the team currently one place below promotion has the majority of their remaining games at home against mid-table teams whereas the team above them on goal difference has 5 out of 9 remaining games, away, against teams fighting relegation or challenging for the title etc. Bolting the seasons together would be the only way the teams have complete control over their own destiny/outcomes.
Until it gets cancelled
