I think we are screwed regardless.
Every model is reliant on our ICU capacity which is crap it would seem. Think we are asking the impossible. -

If there's a govt declared shutdown who do we think will have to cover the staff wages?
Employers? If so, how?
Or will everyone revert to some kind of SSP or Universal Credit? -

Let's hope they've got a forest of magic money trees, as lots of businesses will need assistance, i.e. tourism, transport, retail.

A good friend of mine has decided to close their chain of beauty salons. 20-ish jobs going. There were struggling before but won't be able to survive more than a week or two of reduced custom.*
My brother's wife has a beauty shop/salon in Barcelona and it looks like she is packing it in. The nature of that work though ...
They can't get out to it anyway now - 1500 euro fine apparently

I'd be very surprised if the money tree fruits. I suspect that they'll move everyone on to SSP during a lockdown.
What are they doing in European countries?

Me and the wife are now rather sure we have it, or have enough similar symptoms that we should probably isolate. She's quite stressed, I'm trying to find some new computer games to play. Different strokes for different folks.

Where will the children of hospital staff go?
Will they get crèche/schools/teachers? -

Fingers crossed for you both - 2 year old had an obvious worsening of symptoms in the last hour. More mucus hacking coughing and a really sore sounding sore throat. He only just managed to gurgle "I bit sad, I need a Mr Tumble" through the tears. FFS!

All of the government information is at http://gov.uk/coronavirus
All of the NHS advice is at http://nhs.uk/coronavirus
It has been for some time and is updated daily.
I agree there's an issue with the most vulnerable not having access to the internet, but I'm not sure how texts would help, other than make people panic more than they already are.

Teachers' union is asking for support to keep schools open for children whose parents work in essential services.
There's also a suggestion (not from that union) they stay open for any child whose parents can't stay home - to avoid them being looked after by grandparents. -

There is no published plan of what regular communications will happen and when.
Not true. Information was published at 2pm from the start of the outbreak. On 7 March they switched to 7am to improve reporting.
Information on when the information is available has been available for months and clearly communicated.

Purely for the reason of informing the forum of the state of mind of Leeds people, I've ventured out in to the centre for a pint.
I can safely state the drinking class of of Leeds have a complete lack of concern to the point of apathy. A chorus of Dirty Old Town is ringing around the tap room. The Templar for any of those that know it.

In terms of why information on the plan moving forwards is not being published all at once, they are making the judgement that it's best not to hit people with all at once but manage the flow of information, giving updates as and when necessary in case the plan changes (which it will, and has).
You might think that's babying people but tbh this thread is pretty good evidence for why that's the right approach.

Poor wee guy! We’re fine really, bit rough, but deffo more concerned about doing our bit to minimise the spread. Getting short of breath as a healthy person in their 30s is more scary than anything (and it was minor at that).

That's our concern too, hence isolating, telling postie to leave parcels outside etc. That does sound panicky mind, I'm doubting it's the virus as I've got only the very slightest symptoms. Fingers crossed for you both and fair play for isolating

Some random old bloke coughed in my face on the Headrow the other day (not on purpose, completely oblivious it seemed).
I’m not holding high hopes for virus containment in Leeds, even if we are isolating.
I really hope so but of course we don't/won't know. I mean, the fact all 4 of us, who aren't often poorly and have never been ill all together, have had symptoms (very very mild in my case, more pronounced in the others without being dangerous - although 72hrs of 40° isn't pleasant for a 3 year old, though at no point was he 'not himself') would suggest there's a pretty good likelihood I guess.
