Any beginner friendly, preferably off road routes down to Brighton?

Something that includes the downslink

That would be quite nice actually. She's never done a distance like that, so removing some traffic anxiety would be helpful

In which case if you end up going that way you could take the Overground to Richmond, then follow the Thames for a while, find a nice quiet route to get down to Guilford, and then it's downslink all the way to Brighton almost

Not a route, but any recommendations for accommodation for 2-3 people in Ghent/Oudenaarde? I'm planning a weekend riding up there
Edit - minimum two bedrooms plus a couch for whoever draws the short straw

Includes the Downs Link, if coming from London miss the first bit and just get the train to Guildford. On that route you end at a campsite, obviously you don't have to go that far and can stop in Brighton :)

MTB Northerly escape of Borehamwood, Herts, Hertfordshire. Zone 6 Oyster.
Takes just an hour, or could be a family friendly route to de Havilland Museum, Shenley Park walled garden (to buy bags of apples from honesty box). Stretch to Little Organ Hall hopelessly overgrown.

Got a day off in Adelaide on a work trip. Going to rent a road bike and do Corkscrew, down Montacute, up to Norton and then onto Lofty before heading back into the CBD. I've done most of this before, any better suggestions for a few hours riding?

Anyone got a route from London > Eye in Suffolk?
-
• #839
No, but take the Dunwich Dynamo route out to Cretingham (search for it on ride with gps) or nearby then fork off from there, as long as you don’t ride on the A140 all the roads are fine.

I'm thinking of heading to Bath from Oxford / Bicester way in the new year, swinging over and taking in the Cotswolds. Does anyone have any suggestions / routes for nice rides out that way ? Dodgy surfaces not too much of an issue - haven't decided which bike it'll be on yet!

Anyone got any decent routes from Spitalfields? I'm going to be in London for work some time in the next 4-5 weeks and will have a day off. I could ride down to the Surrey Hills but I'd like to find somewhere new to ride so somewhere east.
Looking for 80-100km for a road bike

I did this recently and liked it for an Essex route - personally I always like the Kent / Surrey hill rides more than out east but this was good variety!

Will be working from home for the next who knows how many weeks, as such, probably a good opportunity for some morning rides, at least until we go on lockdown. Any ideas for a 50ish km loop from Canada Water or thereabouts?
If anyone is keen to join do shout!

I know, there's just a limit to how early I'm willing to get up to get a ride in before I have to log in and pretend to work!

Know of any nice routes from South London to Southend on Sea taking as many country road and away from busy roads, need a little bit of a break from London for the day!

• #847
anybody got a good mix surface ride from LDN > New forest? 35mm friendly
-
• #848
@Qebrus First is the 'classic' route to Southend, might be better ways but this one is not bad.

If you need something longer with nicer, quieter lanes then this has an added loop around Ingatestone and then back down and rejoins the route to Soufend. I have done both, second obvs better but first is ok. There are quieter ways to Lea Bridge but might require something more than 25/28c tyres

Well I was planning on doing it on my new gravel-esk bike with some 32c gravelking sk's on so could definitely hit a little bit of single track! Thanks for both the routes willy check them out a little more once I've finished work!

I'm heading up to Leighton Buzzard on Friday. Does anyone have a decent route from north / north east London?
I was thinking about picking up the Grand Union canal somewhere and following that.
If anyone has any insight on whether that'd be feasible on 28 road tyres I'd be grateful
