If testing positive what’s the course of action?
Antibiotics?

Antibiotics?
No. It's a virus.
-
• #3779
It's a virus. Antibiotics are only useful if you get a secondary bacterial infection later.
Course of action is stay at home. -

From the Guardian:
France has announced the closure of all places “non essential” to public life including restaurants, cafes, cinemas and discos from midnight Saturday.
“We must absolutely limit movement, meetings and contacts,” French prime minister Edouard Philippe said on Saturday evening. Food shops, tobacconists, banks and public transport will remain open, he said.

If test positive then self isolate.
Make sure you have pain killers ( Ibuprofen / Paracetomol )
It may or may not fell you depending on your fitness / age and genetics.
If it does, just ride the storm, keep the temp down and hydrate.
Hopefully will pick up by day 7.
If not contact 111

My moneys on the agriculture industry developing a superplague from their use (abuse) of antibiotics on livestock.

maybe just Paracetamol
French authorities have warned that widely used over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs may worsen the coronavirus.
The country’s health minister, Olivier Véran, who is a qualified doctor and neurologist, tweeted on Saturday: “The taking of anti-inflammatories [ibuprofen, cortisone … ] could be a factor in aggravating the infection. In case of fever, take paracetamol. If you are already taking anti-inflammatory drugs, ask your doctor’s advice.” -

Well I can't be sure that I had it.
But the Ibuprofen relieved the lung irritation for me.
What ever works.

Possibly not Ibuprofen:

Okay to clarify I’ve no idea...
I only ask as I’ve seen no “cure” or course of action so don’t see the benefit of testing?
Secondly really enjoying the balcony parties in Italy. Human spirit is hard to crack.

this from a nation who thinks you take drugs up your arse
I used to give my daughter paracetamol up the arse when she was a baby. Much easier than oral. Unavailable in any pharmacies round here without special order and bloody expensive without a prescription.

Testing could be useful to catch infections early so those people can isolate. They might spread it for a week without having symptoms.
-
• #3794
don’t see the benefit of testing?
There isn't really one apart from tracking infection and better understanding things like mortality rates.
-
• #3795
Just like it's antisocial to hoard sanitiser and bog roll I'd say it's anti social to get worked up about there not being tests for everyone who wants one. To my layman's understanding it's not necessarily the lack of kits, but about not creating an unnecessary back log at the labs that analyse the testing kits.

That sounds like testing everyone which isn't possible.
-
• #3798
The more you test the more you catch, see Korea. Demanding absolutes is pointless.
-
• #3799
So why would I be getting tested if I have no symptoms?
-
• #3800
you might have been in an office with somebody who was tested positive for example.
As I understand it from now on you won't be tested even if you have symptoms only if
hospitalized.
