You’d need to drill out the existing threads, re-tap for a size up, then install the helicoil.
Bit of a pita, only really worth doing for exceptional cranks.

Fix it with your credit card and a new set of cranks.

Lol. I know mate. Just be good practice to learn how to do this stuff for the future as cranks aren't all that anyway.

Ohh. Let's look into this. To drill out the existing threads just use a drill bit slightly bigger than the hole?

So much this.
Helicoil repair is always going to be a bodge.

You can also buy threaded inserts which may be slightly more straightforward than helicoils.
All of it seems like a faff tho tbh. -

Lol. Yeah it does, but I have the pedal threader and ws able to do a good crank on the one side, but the insert thing I didn't have to do. However, the insert thing is a bit of a faff. However, I've got another sram x1 rival crank where the pedals have seized and pretty sure if I ever get the pedals out then I'll need to retap.
Can anyone let me know how to put new threads into a crank arm for the pedal. Both drive and non drive side have been stripped. I've got a tool from wiggle that can do it to a certain extent, but I think the hole is too big and worn out for these. I read about helicoil somewhere but not familiar with using these and what size coils would I need? Also I'm assuming I'd need to buy two of these for each side as the threads are different?
Thanks for the advice.
