The Barcelona Marathon's been cancelled. Not disappointed, as I broke myself good and proper running 10 miles for the first time after New Year. Here's to 2021.

Bath Half isn’t being cancelled because Boris won’t cancel these events so the organisers won’t be able to claim insurance. Lunacy
-

At least one runner I know isn't going to go bath half anyway. Community response being more proactive than official response.
London marathon is also part of a 'prove London is economically resilient' game being played by the government. They'll probably try and run at least the elites.

I’ll be gutted if LLHM gets cancelled, was looking at the course yesterday, it’s a beaut! Plus I’m in relatively decent running shape at the moment

I have a 20k trail race this weekend, a HM next, a 15k trail the weekend after... all either "postponed" (can't cancel cos they'd have to refund us) or just total radio silence... So I'm going hashing tomorrow instead, I have no idea what anyone in the group is talking about or who they even are as they all have pseudonyms. Apparently there is beer.

Ok Suunto Spartan. Went for a run GPS sync all good cool lap notifications. Will it upload to strava? Will it bollocks.
Any tips?

Orion 15 next weekend should be going ahead as far as I can tell.

They are made of stern stuff in Chingford

I need new trainers...
On the note of laps, I think I'm on call all week. -

Have you linked your Suunto account to Strava and did you do this before you uploaded the activity from the watch?
-
• #21862
Yeah...I thought I cracked it because the watch was showing as 2019, but no it still didn’t update the activity to last year. I think I’ll go for a quick trot for the school run and see if that works.

You could try disconnecting it from Strava and reconnecting? Then record a brief activity and try uploading again. I've only had issues like you describe once and I think it was a Suunto issue with their service in the end. It's normally very reliable.
You can download the activity from Suunto and upload to Strava manually so you don't lose a run but obviously not something you want to be doing for every run!

Bit of shoe advice needed for a novice here. I’ve just started the C25K thingy, just about to start the second week. Fairly fit on a bike (100m per week) but have never run at all. I’ve been using a pair of elderly Nikes and my feet are a bit bruised, so it’s time for something better. What sort of budget am I looking at, and what would anyone recommend? Ta.

Lots of emails coming in about Fell Races being cancelled/moved. Coledale , Fellsman and 3 Peaks to name a few.

Something that suits your feet. Personally I reckon it's worth going to a specialist and getting a gait analysis and a proper fitting. You'll pay more vs online but you're more likely to get a more suitable shoe, and once you know what type/brand suits you can buy online for subsequent pairs.

I hope VLM goes ahead just so my clubmate who won the club's free place last year, deferred injured, then raced a triathlon overseas on VLM race day is forced to honour his commitment to run this year. I also hope he stubs his toe 25.9 miles in and dnf's.

I would say get some ASICS GT 1000 or something similar. Run for a while in those until you get a feel for running and then base your decision on that.
Like bike fitting, gait analysis is not standardised and there’s a lot of bullshit from the Saturday boy. Get some miles under your feet you know what kind of runner you are

Yeah tried that. It let me post into my timeline from the app but not activities
Not happy, this could well be sent back
-
• #21870
Doesn't sound right tbh. I'll be the first to moan about the Suunto app but uploading activities and syncing across to Strava is one thing it does fast and reliably. There are a load of articles online, and you could try customer support before returning it.
FWIW I uploaded a run from lunch time earlier and it went straight over to Strava so seems unlikely to be a service outage or something like that.

VLM postponed to 4th Oct

Huge news. Might try and enter now. Summer to train. Race in cooler weather. Pb guaranteed.
-
• #21873
Reckon they'll re-open entries? MEN reports mcr Mara defo to go ahead 5th April but I'm hearing elsewhere it'll be moved to Sept, becomes tempting local race then if I can get a summer of building miles done.

MCR now officially postponed, Autumn date tbc

Brighton Marathon also postponed, till September.
I might just stick to indoor rowing, there's loads of hand sanitiser at the gym.
Purely selfishly I'm hoping the LLHM in two weeks is cancelled, definitely not in the right shape to run it.
Would be surprised if VLM is cancelled too.
