Old firm and all scottish football has just been suspended...

The more I read and reflect on UK government approach, the more I'm persuaded that maybe they are right to grasp the nettle now. If you accept the genie is out of the bottle and it will re-emerge even in countries taking strong counter measures now once they are relaxed, then ultimately herd immunity is the only way forward. It feels like it is going to be a rough road though.

Went back to work (Haywards Heath) this morning after a day off to find out that one of my teammates was taken ill just before 5:30pm. Thankfully we have got a medical team on site (insurance and assistance call centre) and he was checked out.
But today our open plan was closed for a deep clean and we're wfh for at least a week.
The local waitrose was empty of pasta, toilet rolls etc. again by 11am. Been like that for a week now. Crazy.
Sad to know that some people will have nothing to eat but TP in the coming weeks at this rate. -

everyone been griping that Old Firm was allowed to go ahead when everything else to be cancelled so not surprising tbh. The strain it puts on emergency services is already massive, so fuck knows how they could have justified it under pandemic conditions!

MERS has a case fatality rate of >40% and an R0 of ~0.4
SARS has a case fatality rate of 10% and an R0 of ~2.2At an estimated R0 of 1.8 an CSR of 1% this is somewhere near Cholera on this graph.

I broke my central heating thermostat last night and while I was fannying about in the boiler cupboard this morning trying to fix it, I found two 9-decks of bog roll I'd forgotten about! SCORE!

Yeah I don't know how similar they are, certainly different in fatality and contagiousness, but seem somewhat similar as viruses looking at these for example https://www.niaid.nih.gov/diseases-conditions/covid-19

There's no toilet paper left. That's 'man size' kleenex, suitable for blowing your nose and um, other things.

This.

I tried wiping with the Mail a couple of years ago and ended up with an inverse Nigel Farage on my something something.

This. Feeling pretty down about all the imminent death.

Tins of San Mig. Gross. Bet they drink them warm, whilst cursing Spaniards and reading the ZiegHail.
-
• #3245
Tbf, i was mainly referring to the tinnies but as i haven't had a drink in 2 years, i'm not sure if I can judge taste in booze any more...
Old Speckled Hen is shit though.

Feels a bit like a bad dream, the rolling news doesn't help. Can sort of see the logic in trying to let life go on as usual as much as possible, keep morale up for as long as possible, if this is going to go on for months.
Pretty scant consolation when the most positive spin is 'I personally probably won't die'.

Nothing wrong with generic continental cooking lager (although San Miguel is 5% so it qualifies as continental fighting lager).

It's grim. A few I'm close to are at risk. A pal (from LadStag) and his partner are losing it over their wedding being at serious risk. Bleurgh.
Does the 'Six degrees of separation' theory hold any water? If so it seems fairly likely the virus has been in the UK for some months.
