  • Straw poll of a few friends shows that all four of us and our families have been more or less constantly ill since christmas. My fucking kids have just had cold after cold after cold. I've had revolting dry cough that sets my gag reflex off causing me to hork, retch and throw up more than once. It went away for a week or so then came back last week. My wife came down with flu last Friday spent three days in a fetal position in bed and still hasn't left the house since. Both kids have had fevers and coughs and still really under the weather. CV or not, this year has been fucking grim so far.

  • That and the fact my Father in Law's leukemia has just relapsed and he's about to start treatment.

So sorry to hear this. As if it isn't worrisome enough to be immuno-compromised at the best of times.

  • Yeah, likewise - I've had a cold and general grot on and off since December. Guess it's the season for various bugs to be going around, and some years are worse than others, even before you consider exceptional ones like CV.

  • My two (4 and 1) and Mrs Glover have all had a cough and a cold for weeks, they were just snotty and coughy but it hit her worse, I've had a couple of weird 24 hour flare ups, pretty much business as usual for a family with nursery-borne viruses going around.

But yes it's not done much for my corona-anxiety.

  • Thanks man

  • It does seem to have been a particularly buggy winter this year. Makes you wonder how many diagnosed cases there have been

  • I was under the weather NYD through to Feb with aches, fatigue and a relentless dry cough.

Faint hope this means I've had it already.

  • It's being reported in China that they had their first cases in mid November, 7ish weeks before they reported their first death.

  • That is good

    Please don’t encourage him.

  • Well I got some symptoms.

Though not a persistent cough or Temp as yet.

    Too ill to work mind.

Last night was like having my lungs deep peeled. 😎

  • Was considering it, but not sure if sufficient 45+ post-punks on here.

  • The reassuring words of the Chief Medical and Scientific Officers have not worked on the residents of Leyton, who this morning have seemingly all decided to go to ASDA at exactly the same time. Last Friday it was normal, and today it was fucking nuts.

  • Mike Watt is a fucking baby in that photo, so cute...

  • We're all going to be working from home from next week until further notice.

Multi national insurer with 7k staff across the country. Front line call handling staff all have laptops now and soft phones etc, they've been stress testing the systems all week. Feels a bit premature, but at least I don't have to go to London next week either.

  • ASDA at exactly the same time. Last Friday it was normal, and today it was fucking nuts.

Exactly the same in Tesco this morning - I went at 6am before work and no joke it was like going on Christmas eve (yes sadly I've made that mistake before).

  • Local shop was cleared out of tp last week, this week fully stocked again all week.

Hopefully the folk panicking are noticing this too...

  • tp

Need some tp for your bunghole?

  • Yeah. So hard to know when it's normal to get some kind of lurgy over winter anyway, but again, that's just made it more likely for the mild cases of this to fly under the radar.

Be interested to see if there was an unusual spike in pneumonia pre-Christmas too, but given how fucked the NHS is how likely that this would even be monitored if unaware of a potential pandemic?

  • This must be an amazing time for academic research into social phenomena.
In my work email I see I am starting to see the postponement of plenty of things that shouldn't really be affected by the virus. Actions/decisions that purportedly was only meant to be taken by one strong individual in authority, and that could be made regardless of whether they are working from home or not.
To me, this proves there is normally a significant degree of collaborative face to face interaction happening at all times with plenty of informal input given to the leader before every such decision is made.
Discuss: will this virus lead us into a bright new future of anarcho-syndicalism?

  • I was there at 630 this morning. Depressing.

  • That and some salve for the raw ringpiece this cheap toilet paper hoarders forced me to buy has caused over the last few days...

  • If you took the photograph now it would look the same, apart from the 50 people standing in a queue to get to the checkouts.

  • Still blows my mind that they have allowed a 3 days rave in pontins to go ahead.

There's worse stuff floating around Bangface.

    The music for one.

  • Thought they’d rinsed out the whiskers section for a moment.

I bought an extra pack of nappies and bog roll yesterday. I am a knob
