  • Also with the forum advice.

This weekend my family is throwing a party, in a hotel, for my Grandfather who just turned 90. My grandmother is 87. Various relatives and friends are travelling to Bournemouth for the party and some are also staying at the hotel. About 50 people in total.

This is a dumb idea right? It appears that I’m the only person in my family who thinks this should be cancelled.

  • Statistically right now it is unlikely that one of the 50 people attending the party will have the virus, high consequences if they do though. A month down the line the chances will be much higher. I would maybe make sure that anyone with any form of illness doesn’t attend.

  • Well I just got a call that my Grandfather isn’t going to attend now. And a few other people have also pulled out.

Like you say, statistically low but high consequences at that age.

  • Fuckin managers here have their head in the sand re the curling world champs saying that Sturgeon saying anything over 500 people will be cancelled is advice and not law.

Seems like World Curling Fed are in the same boat, still no mention of the virus on their website or social media outlets despite woman’s competition starting in Canada in 2 days and men’s here in Glasgow in 16 days.

World Curling Fed are getting pelters on twitter for not cancelling already but are silent on the matter.

Really don’t want to be in this building when hunners of cunts from all over the world start arriving.

  • Our UK offices shut from today until the 20th a recent email announced.

  • Mandatory closure of the office tomorrow and Monday. Our team have decided to extend to the end of next week.

  • Heard a rumour this afternoon that someone on the floor below us was self-isolating. Haven't had any direct contact with them, but just got word it's WFH Friday for everyone. Not a drill this time.

  • If the peak isn't for another 10-14 weeks (according to Government experts) what are your firms intending to do for the next 3 months?

  • I just got a text from my GP's surgery to say all appointments from now on will be by phone only.

  • One of our coaches notified the managers when he came in today that his son (lives in the same house) is having to self isolate because one of his colleagues has had contact with infected persons.

Management were going to come back to him as to whether he should stay in work or go home and self isolate but they have not done so yet. He is now delivering a session to disabled cyclists.

  • Your kitchen status requires a swan, I’d think.

  • Great question.

We’re a service based company so can continue to deliver remotely across all employees.

The issue will be if / when that affects employee morale / productivity or if significant amounts of staff still become sick and unable to work.

    Who knows then.

  • A bit more on people being pricks. It got to gf's small town in southern Italy from a shop owner who was visiting the north, fled the lockdown and went back to work with symptoms.

    Lockdown worked then.

  • Work have sent everyone home and it is WFH for the foreseeable so anything from 1 to 3 months.

I took a large bag in to snaffle one of the big monitors and a keyboard as I'm not keen on trying to work on a laptop so got a nice little home office set up.

I'd like to say I've got a standing work station but as on top of a set of ikea drawers was the only space I could find where I'd be able to get some quiet it is a bit of poetic licence

  • I don't know if it’s been posted but seems like bs free read - https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca

  • That was posted yesterday. I don't know how creditable it is or reasonable it's assumptions. I don't know if they're the authors conclusions, or uncredited expert's but if you look at the authors other articles...

  • No Ocado delivery slots until Friday next week. This is getting out of control

  • No Sainsbury's slots till April 1st right now...

  • Ha - ready to concede that being on the same side of the argument as Piers Morgan probably puts me on the wrong side of it.

I watched the press conference with CMO and CSA. Was impressed by their transparency.

  • edit: actually, it looks like it's from next week

Fuck knows, the Scottish people seem to be fucking horrendous at saying shit like next Monday when they actually mean this Monday.
