This weekend my family is throwing a party, in a hotel, for my Grandfather who just turned 90. My grandmother is 87. Various relatives and friends are travelling to Bournemouth for the party and some are also staying at the hotel. About 50 people in total.
This is a dumb idea right? It appears that I’m the only person in my family who thinks this should be cancelled.

Statistically right now it is unlikely that one of the 50 people attending the party will have the virus, high consequences if they do though. A month down the line the chances will be much higher. I would maybe make sure that anyone with any form of illness doesn’t attend.

This seems like high stakes to me. For same reason I’m not visiting grandparents next week. Would defo postpone.
