As things stand at the moment:

I'm guessing that your partner's parents are in their own home? As all visits to old people's homes (EPHAD - Établissement d'hébergement pour personnes âgées dépendantes) are now banned until further notice.
The risk obviously is that travel restrictions are put in place while you're out there and you can't get back.
Macron is making a televised statement tonight at 8pm, maybe wait til then before deciding.
Supposed to be flying to the South of France tomorrow to see my partner's parents. Increasingly feeling like this is not a sensible thing to do. There are very few reported corona cases in that whole region, but who knows what the situation will look like at the end of next week. The prospect of importing it into that area - and into the house of two elderly people - doesn't seem great either. At the same time, I have zero faith that the government here have a handle on this (football matches? sure, go right ahead!) and maybe being out of here and in rural france is a better prospect. Fuck knows.
