They are talking about possibly having playoffs if the season stops after this weekend. I suppose that is sort of fairest. Depends how long everything is shutdown for, but can't see there is much room for catching up once games are postponed. I'm all for voiding the season, obv.

Other than this crazy shit going on?!
Just got back from Canada doing the same. Life is plodding along. Rumour is work is discussing us WFH for the next month. Im glad i managed to get back from Canada last week, every day is looking worse and worse!
I have been in self-isolation for the last week as well. My gf went via singapore and the UK considers it a group 2 country. 2 of her mates were showing symptoms of something so I was forced to do 2 weeks myself.
Cycling is seldom at best. Unfortunately I dont have the space so its diffcult. Everything is in storage. But now im going to wfh, gym has to stop, so ill have to find a beater to go bash round a park.
Ppl are weird here, freaking out over TP but not over food or long life essentials and avoiding pasta with the name Italy on it.

Definition of people being mad.
All matches behind closed doors.
People still congregate outside stadium to cheer. -

This is the problem with trying to 'lock things down' - people have an annoying habit of doing what they want.
I guess these people have made a decision that entertainment and socialising with a small chance of getting sick > no entertainment and no socialising and a smaller chance of getting sick.
One of the trickier things for the government is calling the time / situation where people are receptive to more draconian measures for the longest possible time. Too early and they'll get pissed with you and not vote for you and you'll exhaust their patience too quickly.

I suppose the general assumption is this like flu so, you know, get sick watch Netflix.
Clearly it can’t be - mild for corvid is probably more like severe for flu (I guess), that doesn’t sound particularly fun...

we just canceled a weekend away with the boys. JUST. Why risk taking a flight, maybe being stranded there, to talk and drink some beers (if cafes are still open).

Typical Belgian fatalism. Delhaize, a supermarket, has a buy two get one free beer offer on Coronas and Mort Subite while the government(s) are doing sweet fuck all.

As things stand at the moment:
https://www.thelocal.fr/20200311/coronavirus-and-travel-what-is-the-situation-for-france
I'm guessing that your partner's parents are in their own home? As all visits to old people's homes (EPHAD - Établissement d'hébergement pour personnes âgées dépendantes) are now banned until further notice.
The risk obviously is that travel restrictions are put in place while you're out there and you can't get back.
Macron is making a televised statement tonight at 8pm, maybe wait til then before deciding.

Seeing a lot of this “mild doesn’t actually mean mild” stuff getting posted everywhere in the last few days but there have been and are still also plenty reports of people feeling slightly unwell, testing positive and recovering quickly. Also lots of “actual numbers will be much higher due to mild cases not being reported”.
Part of me wondered if the mild is not mild thing is just the latest click bait media tactic.

I feel a play-off of the current top three is the only fair solution

It does feels like that, another ramping up of the panic levels - there's been weeks of reporting that symptoms can be so light you can barely notice them

I was at a management committee meeting for my work yesterday - skyping in from home - was expecting a war cabinet with a real enthusiasm to be proactive...our regulator had issued very helpful and clear guidance on what steps we should be taken in readiness...instead nobody seemed bothered at all, let alone interested in talking about contingency plans...i raised the question of our readiness and policies at the end and was met with the response lets not over-react, suck it and see, and its just like flu.
was quite disappointed -

I was thinking it’s the other way round, the reports on mild symptoms were down playing it so people didn’t panic. If they’re that mild why shut down everything?
