  • My office's whole building is doing a test work from home day today, that's roughly 1000 people I reckon. One of the office blocks nearby is already on permanent work from home and I'd be surprised if any of the others have many people in. Hammersmith must be a ghost town now.

I'm fine with working from home but I work on smart TV apps and the only way of testing them is actually on a TV, so we can keep developing but won't be able to release any updates until it can all be tested properly in the office.

  • You got a seat then.

  • doing a test work from home day today

    same!

virus wont make it to Neasden, it wont know how to get there.

  • Goodness.. What time was that?

  • We're home working as of today for at least the next 8 weeks to reduce office density, reduce burden on transit etc

It won't affect my day to day too much (zoom, slack etc) but I'm worried about cabin fever setting in.

  • I've been exclusively working from home for the past fortnight. Cabin fever is real.

  • I'm in Amsterdam.
I have not really heard of big scale tests yet.
Daughter's school was closed for a couple of days because parent of a child was sick, but has reopened. The advice from authorities to headmaster was actually not to close.

  • I’m surprised they haven’t cancelled events yet, housemate is going to a 3 day rave this weekend in pontins, I imagine he’s going to comeback with the virus.

  • I think I read somewhere that around half of Germany's cases can be traced back to a large carnival event in one particular area. I don't know if that is true, but if it is it doesn't fill me with confidence about the UK gov position to let football go ahead.

  • Thought that I recognised that station...

  • Before 7am, TBF, this side of London Bridge is the terminal.

  • Personally I think it’s insane.

  • From g/f; Euston is quieter.

  • So earlier this week I was in my hotel room in the US, getting anxious that my flight back to Europe could get cancelled. As it were, I got on the flight just fine. But had my departure been scheduled for today, i.e. three days later, I would most probably have been stuck in Trump land for the foreseeable future. Feels like my worry was justified.

  • it doesn't fill me with confidence about the UK gov position to let football go ahead

The Coronavirus information for supporters that Norwich sent out last night is bonkers - 'The club have been advised that supporters and members of the public should avoid shaking hands and other physical interaction with each other, as well as with players and staff'

Great. That should be easy. It gets better: 'Anyone with flu symptoms should avoid the risk of spreading the infection by staying at home and recovering. The club are relying on everyone to play to their part and be transparent about any potential level of risk.'

I've got a feeling this'll be the last round of fixtures played in front of crowds in the Premier League, if played at all. I'm giving it a miss.

  • The whole thing seems like a joke to me, how on earth have we still been in the “contain” phase for the last week, anyone with 2 brain cells knew it was getting passed onto people who hadn’t been to a risky area.

If they were serious about slowing it down they would have cancelled events a week ago, Cheltenham is still on this week it’s crazy!

  • It's almost like the gov are taking the infection figures as gospel and not considering that the true infection rate is certainly a lot higher.

  • I'm fully expecting Ableton Loop in Berlin to get cancelled any moment

  • Must be near White Hart Lane, eh?

Mr and Mrs Hanks, sick and less than 100kms away, close the airports!!!!

  • I appreciate that this is anecdotal to the point of meaningless but I'll say it anyway because shitposting is fun.

I rarely get public transport but travelled from Lewisham to Putney and back on the train yesterday. At this time of year, when you listen, you can normally hear continual sniffles and coughs and general sounds of people with colds.

Yesterday, I noticed that I barely heard a single sound of illness on the whole journey. I'm hoping that this means that people are being sensible and staying home if they're sick.

Anybody else able to observe this or is it just my imagination running away with me?

  • Or they are trying to allow a certain amount of people to get it in this wave before slowing it down?

  • I suppose it's possible.

Does seem a bit weird though. I mean, if one percent or even half a percent of a crowd of 50,000 get infected and then infect other people, it's quite a big step up. Especially when multiplied by all of the games that are scheduled.

  • They are all following government advice and our government and foreign office seem about a week behind the virus.

  • Yesterday, I noticed that I barely heard a single sound of illness on the whole journey. I'm hoping that this means that people are being sensible and staying home if they're sick.

Heard the same from my partner here in BE. Paranoia kicking in.
