Definitely go for low gears.
Things nobody says at the end of TCR:
'I wish I'd had a bigger gear for pushing on the flat'
'I never used my bottom gear'
Most people who have done it more than once put lower gears on.
FWIW I'm planning the same gears as last year which are 30/46 and 11-40
