  • Yeahhh bitchin. Wait freewheel?

  • Yeah I've 2 other bikes set up fixed and fancied a different flavour. Plus carbon rims and only a front brake so slightly safer 🤞

  • Surely freewheel is more dangerous than running fixed with only a front brake? A very cool build nonetheless

  • If i crash it I'll swap it to fully fixed. And yeah your right now i can't pedal brake I'm just relying on one brake so probably not as safe. Major roadworks on my commute at the moment so spend a lot of time freewheeling and weaving but i like this i should be able float it over the rough stuff. I'll see how i get on 🤞

  • Anyone mastered the fixed wheel pothole bunny hop? I'm no Chris Akrigg ☹️

  • Not for rainy days then

  • Seriously cool bike, don’t go ass over head into any potholes on it!

  • On a freewheel, you don’t need to with foot retention. Just put your leading foot forward, cranks horizontal and just lift/post the bike over a pothole. I can’t bunny hop for shit but if you’re clipped in it’s easy to clear small obstacles.

  • Yeah i can bunny hop or just float the rough stuff with a freewheel just can't bunny hop fully fixed. It took me a while to get used to popping it off curbs whilst still pedaling.

  • Aha! Looks very smart and really pleased it's getting used. A sin to have such a frame and not ride it (a sin I was guilty of...). Nice work captain. I'm (am I?) a wee bit jealous

  • First proper ride on it today and happy with running the freewheel now i can float it over the rough stuff and pop it over the potholes without worrying about pedaling. Maybe I'll start a best/worst potholes from your commute thread. Put the pictures to the vote and the winner gets a new front wheel or something. New 2 tone black decals just arrived for the principia just need to find the time and pluck up the courage to put them on.

  • Sorry double posted by mistake @skipper hopefully will be seeing something shiny new custom steel from you in projects shorty😁

  • Super. Might take a while but when it's done, for sure. Though I suddenly got a Principia pang....I still revere them. And I have my beloved RSL, my first proper road bike.

  • I've spent today stripping a saddle to put on this. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and if you like the carbon weave these saddles are a good alternative to a stripped SLR. I've not got any precise digi scales but it was a 150 something gram saddle to start off with so i guess about 140g now? It certainly is feathery. New decals and wheels swap since last time as well.
New rear is A-force al 33 on bitex hub with 28D-lights built by DCR front is borrowed from my tt bike from ADR carbon which I'm pretty sure is the same one Blb are selling at the moment.

  • Where did you get the decals from? I've got a Rex with the same ones, a few of the letters on one side are damaged.

    Looks good btw

  • I got them from wanit.co.uk
Loads of colours available but the ones that say metallic are just that. Like metallic paint and not metal looking like some of the original the ones that use actual foil.

  • Principia V2?

  • Yes V2 but mine were listed as black with metallic silver outline which is no longer listed but the Rcs S6 version is now listed a chrome option which is new. If you email them I'm pretty sure they can do what ever you want colour wise as they're all printed to order anyway. I emailed asking about any special prep required for the anodized paint (there isn't any) and the guy was really helpful.

  • Sold the stripped saddle on here and went back to the old flite and sweet
New forks on thanks to @nyoro for sorting these out for me 👍 now I've got a couple of cm extra steerer i can use a more sensible stem on this. I was going to either remove or get some blackout decals for the forks but at the moment I think the white looks OK?
