Girl on the checkout said someone tried to buy a full pallet of loo roll earlier in the day, but were refused. Are people just trying anticipate the next thing they can flip off on ebay for 5 times the price?
I have a half-finished joke here involving two meanings of 'going short' (running out of something vs. financial trade speculating on falling price) and two meanings of 'getting caught short' (urgently needing to urinate/defecate vs. being financially exposed in a short trade position when prices rise). Although I suspect they may stem from a common etymology.
Can someone finish it off please?
Did the weekly shop last night, some people wandering about buying copious amounts of handwash, loo roll and pasta.
