• Turning 30 next month I had decided some time ago to furnish my aging self with a Rolex to replace the Apple Watch and be more “suitable” for a shirt and tie worker now.

Obviously been looking at the used market but thought I’d enquire on the waiting list for a submariner that I’ve fallen in love with.

    6 years.

Knew it wasn’t a short list but 6 caught me I must be honest.

  • Get one for your 40th

  • Get a Steinhart in the meantime :)

I paid a little over list for mine, it was less than 30 days old when I collected it.

I don't like the situation, but it's a case of hate the game really, and the dealer I bought it from said he'd buy it back for the same price in a year so at least you are insulated from depreciation due to said game.

Be interesting to look at what the likely price rises are going to be over six years vs paying overs now.

Anyway, I reckon you can find one for a reasonable price for your 30th birthday if you are so inclined.

  • Where will they put you on a list ?
I bought an oyster perpetual at an AD for my friends wife ( he was paying) whilst out in Italy and asked to be put on the sub waiting list .
    No chance

  • Have you looked at the Oysters?

The new ones in black face are nice and come in a few sizes. Worth a look imo and quintessentially Rolex, albeit a different aesthetic to a sub.

Spotted a bi metal Yacht-Master II today. subtle they are not.
