If you can find 'em, old Suntour bmx freewheels are great.

Thinking of switching from SPD to CB eggbeaters, is it very different to get used to?
-
• #101080
Clipping in is quite different. Once in they have quite a bit of - configurable - free float.
You need to be careful with carbon shoes and CB stuff. If the tread of the shoe sits above the contact points on the pedal, the pressure sits on the sole and the wings of the butterfly springs which then wrecks the sole.

Apologies if this has been covered, tried to search etcetc....
Bought a saddle from Amazon, tried it, no likey, want to return - I snipped the cable tie that connected the saddle to the manufacturer packaging-board; will this void my return or am I overthinking things? Orrrrr could I just put a new cable tie on and hope for the best?
-
• #101083
Think they’ll accept it either way- if it were my I would probably be cautious and reattach with a new cable tie -just in case

Brill, thanks. Just in case anyone is looking, it's a Selle Italia Flite Friction Free Flow...

If you want to overthink it thoroughly, read the distance selling directive. Technically, you can only inspect a mail order item to the extent that you would be able to do in a physical shop before rejecting it on grounds of changing your mind (i.e. it's not defective)
On the other hand, Amazon DGIF, it costs them more to argue than it does to just take stuff back. -

Interesting, thanks - I figured it might play out like that in the real world scenario; the heaving leviathan of poor scruples that is Amazon would collapse on itself and let the zip-ties fall through the cracks.

Running a 28mm tyre on a 25mm internal/32mm external rim. Bad idea?

• #101088
Great idea

Thanks Howard.

Limited to 30c on a frame so trying to find a tyre that comes up just large enough
-
• #101091
Limited to 30c
Which way? 28C on a 25mm internal rim is going to come up to over 30mm wide in most cases.

Rear chainstays.
I'm banking on the internet opinion the new 5000 TL's are more true to size than the predecessor.

I would expect them to be true size on 17mm rims, whereas GP4000s were true size on 15mm rims. On a 25mm rim, they're still going to be wider than nominal.

Will post up what I discover..

• #101095
My sample of a 28c gp 5000 (not tl) on a 20mm rim is 29.5mm wide (at~80psi)
@onyerbike so a 25mm rim would give ~32+mm wide tyres

Anyone on here clues up on the data protection act 2018 and GDPR? The managing agent for our flats is refusing to provide details of (amongst other things) our fire safety certificate “because of GDPR”.
-
• #101097
Sounds like typical letting agent bullshit. If you're named on the certificates, can't you just make a subject access request? (And even if not, you're meeting their bullshit with some of your own...)
-
• #101098
It’s unknown if anyone is named on the certificate- no one has seen it. I wouldn’t think that anyone would be as it’s for a 63 flat block.

Here’s the list of things they say are covered by data protection law:

My question: where can I find an appreciative market for my small collection of c.2002 electroclash vinyl?
Yes and yes.
