There's gravel, meaty water bars and old packhorse slabs to negotiate (as well as the cobbles). I've always had fun up there but imagine it'd be slow going on a road/cross bike, especially if the weather's bad.
Okay, will exerce due caution then. If the weather is not on my side I was planning on using Market Street / Burnley Road on the East.
