  • Ha. British pasta for British hoards!

Lidl still had the gluten free stuff interestingly enough. Panicked, but not so panicked we'll eat health food

  • Christ, it's like Plague Inc on easy mode.

  • I don't think so unfortunately

  • Person I went to school with and their wife have just been confirmed as having it.

Strange when it come close to home.

  • Don't know to be honest.

If you read in the news about someone who'd just come back from Italy and had been sent home from work, and then went on as usual around London instead; you might roll your eyes about it. Can you get tested somewhere?

Edit: after typing that I realised how hysterical it sounded. You should know the risk factors - the fact that you're seeking confirmation suggests you do. If you weren't anywehere near the outbreak in the North, and are showing no symptoms then I'm not really sure you should stay locked in a room.

  • What's the risk? You're young, fit and healthy. The only reason to isolate is to save the colony, what have they ever done for you?

  • That's the current advice, yes. Might be prudent to give it a couple of days of not going out too much just in case symptoms develop though.

  • A colleague of mine and his wife were skiing last week in northern Italy. Got back yesterday. Both are feeling fine and are expecting to be back at work tomorrow, as out management are following official government guidelines.

Will find out tomorrow if that has changed.

  • I was in Italy over the weekend and now having to wfh home for the next two weeks. I feel fine and wasn't in the North, so I'm ok to go about my normal life right? The decision to have me not come in to work is my employers.

    Yes
    (as of this morning anyway)

  • Isn't that word for word from up thread?

@Fyoosh It is also spread by coffee!

  • Have you been to an Italian funeral?

  • Pls go, vada pav is the cure for Coronavirus

  • Six Italian prisoners dead in protest about the clampdown - broke into an infirmary and OD'ed on methadone. Amazing.

  • Some protest! 'Let me have visitors or I'll od on methadone, you bastards!' makes you wonder what the visitors were bringing in with them...

  • Pls go and tag me in your insta story

  • No. I know you think North West London is all the same, you massive racist, but it's actually ages from my house.

  • Lost my father to pneumonia complications so as the first positive case in my town is confirmed its definitely triggering my anxiety badly. I live in Cheltenham and work in Bristol so the advice not to travel by public transport is concerning me but I am not sure there will be an opportunity to work from home, need to talk to managers.

Its frustrating that in France gatherings over 1000 are being banned and sporting events postponed or cancelled and yet here in my town with a confirmed case (so very likely to be others not yet detected) we are about to have 200,000 people descend on the town from all over for the country and world for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

At first I thought this would be another false emergency like swine flu but I have just been watching it getting closer and closer, and it looks like even if you don't get it there is going to be huge disruptions to daily life for months to come.

  • My god. This might be the first time I have ever wished I lived in North West London. Awesome.

  • false emergency like swine flu

Swine flu only turned out to be a false emergency in hindsight. At very least it was an excellent pandemic response drill.

The world took it seriously for good reason. In the end, anything up to 20% of the world's population were infected. The fact that it only ended up killing a couple of hundred thousand people is just good luck.

Been in the office all day, highly doubt that any cleaning has taken place... 😬

Company I work for have just had to shut an entire campus because one of the Scotland woman's rugby squad tested positive yet they are carrying on with the build for the men's World Curling Champs in my building. There are teams coming from Italy and China.

Given, curling might not pull in much of a crowd but even removing spectators from the equation it seems a bit mental to be carrying on with an event which will involve a lot of people travelling internationally.

Just had a look at the world curling federation website and twitter feed and there's no mention of coronavirus. The woman's World Champs starts in canada in 5 days.

  • Ha. British pasta for British hoards!

When I was young, pasta was proper English nosh and came in tins.

And one ate it on toast.

  • Hmm, my parents, both in their 80s, are there (it’s where I grew up). Not sure they get out to many sporting events though.
