yep. i think it might be a priming issue. i hope it hasn't caused any damage.
baffled sump, so that could be it, but i can't see how.
Can't you remove the leads ( or whatever ignition system you have) so you can crank the engine without it firing? Just get the oil pump primed etc.
The other thing is stopping the fuel so it's not washing down the cylinder liners.
This is based on watching internet engine rebuilding....
