  • Pics not uploading in order sorry.

Then I cut out a new small bridge which I was going to braze a guard boss into

Excuse the horrible thumb nail, I’m trying desperately not to lose it after whacking it a couple weeks back.

  • However the rear triangle seemed super stiff still without the bridge and so I decided to try something different.

I cut the end of it off, split the cut off bit in half and brazed it onto the end of the post

  • Slapped that sucker on, added a seat post binder whilst I was there because it looks so much cleaner than the chunky Thomson clamp I had on.
A lick of black paint for now and I’m done.

The chainstays need a boss too but I ran out of weekend so I’ll make do for now

  • That’s smart. Nice to do something alternative to a bridge too.

Not a fan of post binders but again, it does look neat.

your work is really coming along nicely!

What size is the Thomson clamp? I’m on the hunt...

  • Excellent stuff as usual- b Jackson, Argos etc would’ve charged many £ to do what you’ve done to your frame. As they used to say in loaded magazine “ good work fella “

  • Impressive

  • I've got some little metal clips for front mudguards on carbon forks - can bring them in this week...

  • ...the rear triangle seemed super stiff still without the bridge...

You do realise this is the internet framebuilding equivalent of summoning the candyman?!

In all seriousness though, that looks ace!

  • Hey man, not sure if you noticed but your thumb looks unhealthy
    Great stuff you’re doing here!

  • I’m good for the front, I’ve swapped the fork! Thanks though

  • The Thomson clamp says 29.8 on it, however it came with this frame so I’d never bothered to look at it before, I’m fairly certain my frame needs narrower than that and as a result, the Thomson now measures 28.8-29.0ish mm.

  • I’d take it.. need a 29.8!

  • They’re like £25 from a quick google.
    Tenner?

  • Ya ideal! I’ll pm

  • The mudguard stay was a bit too long, caught on the dropout and I overtightened it, cracked the new boss I’d brazed on so I had to redo it today. Did the filler a bit beefier

  • Time consuming but I spent today drilling and prepping the downtube of 002 for internal cabling

  • What is it going to be?

Wait, am stupid, forgot you started this one a while ago.

  • Yes shamefully long ago. It’s a fancy commuter/all weather road bike

  • Haven’t really been keeping this up to date but I’ve been up to a few bits.

Firstly I replaced a rotten seatstay on this Graham Weigh frame.
Still needs a tidying up in this picture.
Couldn’t find a similar aero profile stay tube so I intended to replace both with round but I kinda dig the odd look

  • Awesome, I vote to leave it odd - looks cool

  • I’ve also been doing a couple bits to an Inbred to make it bikepacking ready.

Bottle bosses on the seatstays. They had to be really low down to avoid heel strike and even now I’m not sure if it’ll clear. But I’ll also be doubling up with these bosses for mounting a custom rear rack on which will add a small platform on the top and pannier capabilities.
Finally, 3rd cage bosses under the downtube. I’ve used stainless, dead end bosses in this application so any mud or water off the front wheel won’t get into the frame or damage the bosses.

  • Cable routing is in frame 002 too and the front triangle is now tacked together.
Just needing to invest in a flat mount fixture to do the chainstays and I’m booked in on a brazing masterclass in a couple weeks. Figured I’d go and learn best practise so I can really hit the ground running and knock out some frames. Got so many ideas.

    Exciting, whereabouts?

  • The Bicycle Academy. It’s a bit inconvenient but I don’t know any more local
