kerley, that bike look 'ucking amazing. so sleek.
do you know how much your total spend was?
i would like to throw something together myself more so than otp.

Would have been around the £700 - £800 mark if buying everything from scratch I would guess.
Evidence that putting a bike together from parts is not the cheapest way but at least you get a closer match to the parts/spec you actually want and don't spend money swapping out the cost cutting bits from an OTP. -

Anyone Know What's The Biggest Tyres I Could Fit Onto A Charge Scissor Fork Without Modifying The Fork ?
Thanx

Less captial lock, more searching, you're not a unique snowflake lacing wheel.

Sorry to bump an old thread. I've just bought a Scissor V2 frame and I'm hoping to use a square taper crankset on it. Any idea how this kid has done it on his frame?
Cheers

I never understand these bike checks where people have to look at the parts before they can tell you what they are.
Comes across as if that kid has just been bought a bike by mummy n daddy.
Anyway, Spanish frame to euro cranks, no idea. Didn't think it was possible. Could that be a V1 Scissor in the vid?
Also, why the hell did Charge go with Spanish? I had a bmx frame with a Spanish bb shell a few years ago and it was nigh on impossible to find a bb for it, everyone just uses mid no?

Thanks for the input,
I know what you mean. Poor lad didn't know the difference between a stem and a headset. We've all got to start somewhere I suppose.
Yeah, the Charge is a bit of a cluster fuck BB wise. Mid or at least Euro would have been the way to go, as at least you've got options regarding different setups. I was hoping to to build a cheap bike up with parts I have sitting around doing fuck all.
The only other option I can think of is using a threadless YST BB. I've offered up a Square Taper and the diameter seems right. I'm pretty sure it's a V2 in that video.
Maybe someone else might have some experience with this frame and BB options.

First of all: I am not totally into trick riding but I like the idea of doing basics like barspins, hops and wheelies. At the moment I ride a 62cm Steamroller as I am 6'5 tall.
Am I totally wrong if I think about getting an old Scissor v1 frame to commute and cruise on? Or should I stick to the Steamroller and put some trick forks on it to use it for commutes, smaller jumps, trail riding and cruising around?

I've been using my Scissor off road for the past couple of weeks and it's ace... I normally use it just to rag around, not so much a 'trick' bike but just something to ride hard.

What size frame is this? I'm struggling finding out what size frame to buy for a fgfs frame. I want the back dropped as it looks in this picture and using it like that I.e. no tricks, just commuting...any help In frames and sizes would be appreciated. I was after a Gangsta, but they are too expensive, trying to pick a second hand one and repaint.

Hey, So I am looking for a little advice. I just got myself a Charge Scissor V3, one of the ones that they teamed up with Knog for, unfortunately the geometry is a little on the small side for me. I would like to get the saddle high enough to sit on properly when I am riding about town. I can always drop it if I want to mess about. I was thinking of getting one of the V1 frames as it looks like it is a bit more conventional in the geometry but still good and solid for throwing about. I will then simply swap out the components. Will the V1 frame take the 29er wheels and tyres? Obviously the fork will be taken over, it is more the clearance at the back I am worried about.
Any help would be really appreciated. Coming from old racebike fixie conversions I am a little clueless when it comes to this kind of setup.

hey all
Quick question, whats the largest chainring you can fit onto the scissor V2? Want a setup that isnt too spiny and can cruise town with.

Any answers on the above? Couldn't resist buying the 2012 as it's a mad bargain (in Oz).
Looks like it comes with a 28t chain ring and 10t fixed / 14t freewheel.
With 2.3 tyres I'm looking at 57 gi freewheel and 79.6 fixed.Which sounds too low and too high to me. Would prefer freewheel and I'm wondering what sort of GI I should be looking at on this set up.

Resurrecting this old thread!
Does anyone have a photo of one of these setup with dropbars and skinny tyres?

So I picked this frame up for dirt cheap.
Such a fun bike to ride!Anyone else riding a charge scissor as a commuter?
Or is this thread completely dead?

That would look and work so much better with brake posts brazed onto the fork and a canti or mini V on there.

Or anything nicer than a department-store single-pivot.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about!? That is one lovely frontbrake! A sturdy and timeless design!
Just joking - it is uuuugly and weak!
I just had a hard time finding one with a long enough reach! Was thinking about getting another fork with canti’s or perhaps even a discbrake.
I set mine up for road and it was fine. I didn't use the scissor fork though and went for another Charge fork (can't remember the model name). I used 35c Ribmos on it so not exactly skinny road tyres.
Road and handled very nicely but having had a few Steamrollers I would also go for that option if the price is anything close.
