we fended off the germans
Unfortunately they're mostly dead now and their soopy Boomer offspring left a legacy of melts that are either wetting the bed over vegan sausagerolls existing or wetting the bed over them running out.
What we need is proper war.

Anyway, would a 50:50 blend of essential thyme oil and camomile help to lessen the harshness of diy hand sanitizer?

Has anyone made their own hand sanitizer?
Coronavirus is an enveloped virus so all you need is alcohol or a surfactant (i.e soap) to break down the lipid layer.
Just use soap.

Just use soap.

What you do for fun is none of my business.

Just to be clear, it's for domestic nappy changing hygiene when my kid is being a dick. Which right now is anytime I want them to do something.
DIY is only on the table due to the shortages.

What risk scenario are you trying to protect against? You can wash hands etc to avoid bringing it home, but once it's in a household with young children there's fuck all you can do to stop them putting their hands in their mouths and all over everything.

if the pattern follows what happened here in hk the panic buying will calm down in a week or so but in that time be prepared for an armed bog roll heist

If anyone’s in dire straits, you can buy it online at places like whogivesacrap, they seem to have plenty of stock.

What risk scenario are you trying to protect against?
Bacteria and viruses from mini-H's fecal matter being spread across surfaces and objects in the house.
Who knew trying to clean your hands after changing a nappy was so controversial?
Maybe I need to do some more research.

Also it’s really, really good toilet roll. A roll seems to last for ages.

Interestingly (to me) Mrs m_v reported that it was only the cheap bog roll that was left on the shelf but it was the other way round at the soap with only expensive stuff left.
People’s logic confuses me.

I get it. I have a 1 and 4yo I think it’s just more why not wash your hands with water and soap if at home.

Cheaper soaps are marketed or are antibac usually. May explain it...?
Edit: I’m not saying it’s logical before the anti bac police turn up

I got thinking about potentially problematic areas to protect against or treat and found that 16% of England and Wales prison population is over 50 and predominantly male.

Basildon Tesco has sold out of almost all pasta, thankfully the only style left was my usual Finest Gigli (/golf club bar)

It seems not. Temperature gone and I managed a walk yesterday. Mind you it was slow and very certainly was “post viral”.
I went through an odd cycle of thought as I lay alternately sweating and shivering with Radio 4 on the background broadcasting news and analysis of pandemic. At my lowest, I succeeded in persuading myself that I had probably infected all those close to me with the plague and should self isolate and possibly self immolate.
I then picked up on one statistic and that was that only 100,000 cases had been reported worldwide. My chance of being among the first 100,000 given my risk profile was similar to my chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket.
So sadly I will not top a forum list. Or at least not yet.
More depressing is the fact that the virus I had was really nasty. I can only remember having flu like that a couple of times in my (long) life. And now I face the almost certain prospect of Covid19 later this year.

Dark times for the suburban middle class.
Are you feel better?
Can we put your name as no. 1 on the forum list of people with the plague?
