I have been commuting on my Genesis day one for the past 6 months and it’s my favourite bike to ride. Unfortunately it’s a touch too small for me and I should have ordered the medium. Browsing eBay a few weeks back I saw a medium in “as new” condition. Sent the guy a low offer and for some reason he accepted it. I have a train ticket to Bristol to pick it up on Monday.
A few days later I picked up some 650b wheels on here. I had thought about going 650b before and at this price there was little reason not too. I figured that I have to ride this bike 25miles every day so might as well make it nice. I have gotten a bit carried away and ordered the following.
Bontrager elite vc-r bars
Shimano r785 hydraulic brakes (I may try and remove the shifters at a later date)
Whisky no7 fork
WTB horizon 47mm tyres, which I’ll give a go at setting up tubeless
SKS mudguards
Supernova e3 pure front light
Miche track crank with a Shimano BB
Cane creek 40 headset
Pro missile aero barsI’ll move over my SMP forma, Thompson seat post and speed play pedals from my other day one.
My cheap bike purchase just got very expensive

Whisky no7 fork
What's your plan for attaching the guards to the fork? I don't see any mounts. Are they hidden?

Very nice. Get that dynamo wired up and you'll be bang on trend. Also dynamos are great.

Got a new frame to replace my old Scott MTB commuter. Original plan was to transfer everything over, add discs, but found some cheap SR shifters on a local site and things escalated. What could possibly go wrong? Got a shift mate 7.
Plan is 11-42 cassette, compact double, juin tech stoppers.

I don't know why the combination of SR and Deore gives me such a feeling of positive anticipation. Maybe it's the same effect as some get seeing pineapple and ham on a pizza.

Does anyone have a 130bcd chainring up for grabs? 44t up to about 48t would be good I think!

Wheels turned up today. Setup tubeless, first time I’ve been somewhat successful at it. I’ll be gutted in the morning when they’re inevitably flat.
I want to put them in my current Genesis day one to check size but can’t be bothered with the hassle. It’ll have to wait until Monday for the new bike/frame.
Not a very glamorous picture in my kitchen.

At a bit of a crossroads with the Rock Lobster.
Given woefully poor front brake performance I put some new Uber Bike semi-metallic brake pads in and rebled both brakes. Not much change, if anything braking has got worse and the pads are a downgrade.
Whilst bleeding I noticed bubbles forming different spots around the front brake lever, so clearly they need to be sent for rebuilding.
So, either: sell the hope mono mini's and buy some brand new Shimano hydraulics, OR, send the hope's off to HopeHQ and keep fingers crossed it will fix the problem, though this would undoubtedly cost more.
I'm leaning more toward brand new brakes and flogging the Hope's, though it feels like blasphemy. The amount of time and headache it's taken I'm pretty fed up with second-hand hydraulic brakes >:(

Another request, anyone got any off cuts of celeste gear cable outer? Want a little bit for the rear derailleur housing but don’t want to splash out ~ £30 for a complete jagwire set. Think it’ll enhance the Miami vice vibe that seems to be happening 😎

Are you set on hydraulics? Cable disc brakes can be very good with careful set-up, attention to pad wear (which is not an onerous task) and decent cable housing.
Place in the US called A.S Solutions - this guy distributes in the UK https://spokeydokeybikes.co.uk/.
If you’re thinking of doing, make sure your frame is compatible using the printable tester from here: https://www.assolutions.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/is-fm-drawing-a4.pdf
