I’d read that toilet roll is to due to shelf space and it’s more visibly depleted and therefor enters a panic cycle.

Do Fray Bentos sales also go up? Is there a correlation?
Anecdotally, in Streatham Sainsbury's there were empty shelves of pasta, rice, tinned pulses, tuna etc, but Spam and Fray Bentos were comfortably riding the storm with fulsome availability.
(They were in the war, you know. Seen it all before. And powdered eggs. Bananas hadn't been invented. etc...) -
Fancy a Fray Bentos pie now.
Anyone desperate enough for tinned meat curry/stew.

we need figures. hard facts. research.
maybe the stress is also making people shit more, or possibly the canned fruit. People that haven't touched a prune in decades suddenly getting caught short.
