I don't know whether I should step in here at all.
I let people swear, call each other cunts, and all the rest. So long as it doesn't go to threats of physical violence, actual violence or go into any of the protected characteristics, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, etc. But I'm not sure your mum is a protected characteristic.
Is it offensive? Sure, to some it is.
So how to respond? Tell them to fuck off or put them on ignore. Or more typically if we're doing childish taunts is to reply with something wittier, here's some examples https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/21jwbp/what_is_the_best_comeback_to_a_typical_your_mom/
Given the spelling it seems this isn't British humour, it's at least English speaking world.
Seems like one of those days when getting off the internet and going for a ride is the best thing to do

going for a ride
Is that another ‘your mum’ reference?

I believe you were offended by my joke and I apologize profusely. Please believe that other people aren’t laughing at you, as noted above the form of the joke was so generic and well known in the UK that it was not meant relate to any person in particular even though it sounded very direct. Please enjoy the forum and I promise to be more thoughtful next time.

how things change... can you imagine anyone apologising profusely for a 'your mum' aside a few years ago? Seems the forum's gone from one extreme to another.
The 'tell them to fuck off and put them on ignore' if it bothers you advice ^ seems apt, with the emphasis on telling them to fuck off.

tell them to fuck off and put them on ignore
I said or.
and seems a bit passive aggressive :D
-
• #18386
to be fair I put emphasis on the fuck off bit, which surely makes it aggressive-aggressive? We're nearing societal collapse anyway-we'll be eating each other's mums in a couple of weeks then micro-blogging tasting notes.

Non-cannibalistically I hope
-
• #18388
definitely cannibalistic. Stockpiling charcoal briquettes and tabasco has been my sole priority.

Your mum jokes even get into Campagnolo C-record era brake lever hoods explanations these days.
re: recognising differences between hoods "extra edge on the side (top of the rubber isn’t smooth but the bottom is) note: usually everything is smooth due to extensive use like your mom"

My mum would beat your mum up though

Bit of a dick move to price it more than it was purchased for and IIRC he was embroiled in a stolen bike dispute previously...

Hey BossMan ( @Velocio )
Is there any possibility that we can have a person's post quoted when we hit reply? - Just asking as when there's a very active thread, its hard to follow what someone is commenting on without trudging back the orignial post. It gets rather confusing when its post reply after post reply all refering to different things. Thanks VB!

Highlight the bit you want to reply to then press reply
But yeah not helpful if other people don’t include the bit they are replying to.

Highly
Did you mean highlight?
Seen as in seen on the telly or seen as in dated? I’m guessing you’re the latter you filthy beast.
