nobody cares about your mum, people are making jokes about the comedic construct of 'your mum' (entity unto itself.)
I recognise that this may not make this any more pleasant for you, and also that this veers dangerously close into the 'racist jokes are fine because I'm not racist' excuse, but it is important and hopefully helpful to recognise that neither you nor your mother are being attacked.

What the fuck do you know about internet etiquette?

My Mum actually died three years ago, but let's not dig that up.

my mum died when i was 21, but i've never found 'your mum' 'jokes' funny. if you had a mate who's mum you knew was dead, i'm not sure you'd do it.

My partner, whose mum died five years ago, makes mum jokes. I guess she gets a pass.
Having said that, I'm sure it can be triggering and condolences to everyone.
I'm still not sure moderation is the way we want to handle this particular offense, however.

Actually, I can hear my Mum (who was wonderful), saying something along the lines of "now stop it you lot, shake hands and play nicely, I'LL decide what offends me".

yeah i agree

More than you and your claims of having me on ignore.
It has quite clearly caused upset someone, if intended or not.
But then I'm not the one to condone behaviour such as using information in private parts of this forum as ridicule in other parts of the open forum.
EDIT: Seems that it is acceptable to 'abuse' people but then get upset when goading someone to react.

Maybe that is the way forward, and an apology as the subject is hurtful to someone.

One of my colleagues once said "mum jokes don't stop when they're dead, they just get worse"
(Definitely not the kind of thing you'd want to aim at a total stranger, mind)

Ha. Fuck.

I would agree that this comment is unnecessary, rude and inflammatory, but also that the responder has few posts and is most likely a troll account? “Your mom” is a wide spread generic insult, why it was applied here it’s not clear, but given the randomness of it I wouldn’t worry about it.... weak trolling. Can @Velocio solve the alias?

why it was applied here it’s not clear
Because there was a reference to something being dirty. That's the set up to the most basic "Your Mom" comment. I imagine it's pretty much reflexive to an unimaginative 12 year old.

More yum.

All this talk of mums still doesn't solve the age old question of which dad would win in a fight, I'm still of a view that my dad is stonger than your dad and I doubt the legitimacy of claims your dad trained with both Bruce Lee and Rocky.
-
• #18368
That's just silly, Rocky is a fictional character, unless you mean Marciano. My Dad is currently giving him and Bruce Lee a kicking in the afterlife and letting them take turns resting.
-
• #18369
Which Rocky is fictional? Rocky 1, Rocky 2, Rocky 4 or Rocky 5?
-
• #18370
I think its the one where he kills all the Vietnamese with exploding arrows then beats the Soviets in Afghanistan that's fictional.
-
• #18371
He’s a fraud, it’s Bullwinckle’s friend who is real
-
• #18372
It's OK, none of those are fictional, it's Rocky 3 that's a fraud.
-
• #18373
Everyone knows that, Rocky can't beat Mr T so in that one he is acting. Did you think I was born yesterday.
-
• #18374
I'll ask your Mum.
-
• #18375
Has anyone seen Sly’s mum, she is an interesting character.
You make your mum jokes to people that you know it is banter, you don't make them to random people, especially as you can cause upset people.
