You need a jiggle syphon.

How much comes out is dependant (I think) on two factors:
1) In part, the difference in height between the supply and the receive vessels but, more significantly
2) How much vacuum/suck you are able to apply to the liquid you'd like to siphon.

If you are able to fashion a plastazote foam bung that'll fit snugly into the hose, albeit still be able to slide within the bore, and then pull it through the hose smartly, using a brake or gear cable or two joined together, so that it exits at the receive vessel end, you should be able to get decent pressure.

As techniques go, it may need a couple of practice goes, but it is certainly doable.

The amount of pressure difference and quite possibly the tube bore will dictate how fast it syphons out, mdcc tester would know the formula. My guess is quite slowly. Just don't smoke while you're doing it.

Yeah I've been eyeing them up. Thing is they all come with a tiny hose and I want to attach it to a c.20m garden hose. Trying to work out if I can find one the same bore.

@JurekB surely the vacuum is just to get the system started? once that's remove it has no influence on flow rate .

Correct. Either you or a more efficient apparatus sucking only needs to get the 'water' below the base of the upper tank, preferably filling the entire hose, gravity will do the rest.

IME if you give it max vacuum from the outset - by pulling the wire through sharply - it'll maintain that flow rate.

Jiggle syphon sounds like a long stand and tartan paint, hence why I said it.

Pre fill the hose and cap off both ends.
For a garden hose, Hose lock spray nozzles twisted to off work fine.

Position lower end ready
Run hose to top tank, remove cap and submerge the end before loosing much from the hose.
Open/remove lower nozzle.

cheers, this is the info I needed! will explore other options, I still like the siphon idea, but a big watering can is probably easier/cheaper.

The jiggle is more like an up and down action akin to wanking. What ever speed that is used it never seemed that a flow would continue.

The method in the video was shown to me so never needed the jiggle Syphon again as I couldn't get it to work as easy as the video.

Are there any full steel framesets out there with through axle and those fancy sliding dropouts, apart from the Bombtrack Arise 2?

Any reason for the sliding dropout?

Mainly to cater for through axle, as my wheelset has them, and to not have to dick about with adjusting disc caliper position every time I need to adjust the wheel.

EBB also an option I guess, but seems like more of a faff.

I am switching out the Dicta 16t freewheel that came second hand on the Charge Plug I just got. I am curious to know without taking it apart how many pawls it has, does anyone know? The specs out there I can find of it mention the clicks (point of engagement? correct term?) is 20 but nowhere can I see number of pawls. Assuming probably no more than 2 or 4.

Halo Clickster already in post and hope to have by tomorrow or Saturday. I was just curious what pawls the old one i am taking off has, but not curious enough to want to take it apart to find out :-)
