That would be the main engineering challenge, I imagine. I can see that there'd be space for strain gauges or a battery, but squeezing both in looks like a real challenge.

It's not quite Speedplay, but you can create a mtb pedal power meter
using Favero Assioma.

Also, where would they put the bits!? There's so little to a Speedplay pedal I can't see it working without an external pod or something, which is wack.
