Yeah agreed, would probably feel happier dropping a ton on them if they were the pedals I use anyway though!
Speedplay aren't exactly cheap without power measurement to be fair.
Edit: I'm not holding out hope this thing exists / will exist, but since you suggested it!

To be honest if the look didn't have the proprietary all carbon cranks, I'd prefer crank based... Seems safer from damage than having the most expensive component sticking out at the place most likely to be bumped into.
And I wouldn't have to use look keos...
