Lizzie has mentioned encountering this guy on the Marshes a few times I’m sure. He sounds like an absolute tool.

I think your wrong the majority of drivers who kill pedestrians don’t get a conviction let allow a prison sentence.
Look at these figures in the context of there being in the region of 1700 deaths on the roads. Most motorists who kill don’t even see the inside of a court room.

My mistake, I don't follow pedestrian deaths. Motorcycle and cycle deaths are the ones I follow till the court cases or lack of them.

there is a big difference between justice and the Law
Absolutely agree. Speed kills, this knob was speeding, on an illegally modified vehicle, then left the scene despite someone trying to stop him. The thread title is correct.

What would justice have been in this case? Unless you think differently to the jury, in that the speed and / or the modification and / or the lack of his licence directly contributed to the collision then it's difficult to see what punishment he would be dealt beyond fines / points / driving ban.
Having seen the video of the collision, personally I think that had he been on a pushbike at 20mph the collision wouldn't have been significantly different.
