I've been doing laps of fucking marshland
You could have moved to Norfolk for that!
-
• #253
I'm up for this.
Maybe fixed.

Is there's a finalised route so I can get a better sense? it's possible I may join from Sheffield as Macclesfield is quite a distance from there.

• #255
I think it's this one, with maybe or two tiny tweaks? https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31841470

Look like I can join near Longnor, and be with the group all the way up to the top of snake's.

Yep, might go up to Hathersage depending on how we feel on the day.

There’s a good cafe there upstairs Outside (outdoor shop), decent coffee and food selection.

Coleman's Deli (just nextdoor to Alpkit) is pretty popular with cyclists too.

The Globe in Glossop is cool, obscenely cheap veggie food and pints

• #261
Can I suggest bearing left at around 43km? Heading down Washhouse Bottom rather than the B6049, looks a nice lane

I’m likely to ride to Macclesfield from Sheffield to meet up at 9:30am, anyone coming from there?
-
• #263
Can we please not stop anywhere that's popular with cyclists? It would go against the HDIJ ethos...
Cheap and pints both do fit. Full English even better.

I dunno how it fits into the day's plan. ~30km and 400m^ to ride after that point, it's just after Snake Pass.

7am? Take about over a couple of hours to go over the Peak I think.
Edit; I’m leaving from the highest point of Sheffield, not the town centre.

Cobbles Cafe in Longnor looks promising.

I’ll get back to you.

Cobbles is a control for some of the Peak Audax grimpeurs. Oatcakes are a Staffordshire speciality.

Only a couple of hills to wrench yourself up up getting out of Glossop and across Marple then it's a long flat gravel-grind/mudbath along the Middlewood way back into Macc.

Bollington Brewing Co. is alright.
Icecream stop in Bradwell if you're up for another local specialty. Think there was a good cafe there too but might be shut now...
-
• #272
Yep, should be dandy compared to the rest of the ride

I'm staying in Macclesfield on Friday & Saturday night so will meet you all at the start. I've decided for my journey out (train to Worcester, still need to route) but still need to come up with something for the way back. Maybe train from Leeds.

FYI this is happening on the same day
