Handy, unless you have an absurdly long head tube :'(

Boast post

Mildly relevant but having run rockshox sid and fox factory 32, I felt the fox were a nicer fork.
Sid were not bad but didn't feel as good

Steerer tubes are replaceable these days.

Now that I've ridden a Marzocchi Z1 (Fox) and a Rockshox Revelation back to back here's what I noticed
Rev needed another volume spacer and improved the small bump compliance.
Z1 is nice and plush out of the box.
Z1 rides higher due to lower suggested sag.
Z1 is more adjustable, but the range goes from not enough to too much, where as the Rev just has usable range.
Equalising the fork is easier on the Rev.
Sag guage on the Rev is useful.
Air cap and compression dial are nicer on the Z1. -

Found a 2016 Pike with Vorsprung upgrade - would that still be better than the Oem recon on the sentier? Have no knowledge of forks, trying to get a feel for it.

Wore out at the top of Afan Y Wal, got me down. Rotors don’t look too mashed although imagine they might be a bit compromised now...

Always check your pads before riding, and always carry spares. Sintered pads wear a lot slower than organic ones. And yeah I'd probably be looking for a new rotor. It's happened to all of us at some point, some times even on fresh pads.

That Pike is coil sprung, if that's what you want? Is the spring tension suitable for your weight? Presumably it's boost?
-
• #15561
And the spring conversion is a one way trip.

Can you show me a link to the fork? If it's got a Vorsprung Luftkappe it's air sprung and, yes, jump in it.
If it's the coil upgrade can still be very good but as @Dogs and @Howard says it has to be the right spring rate for you otherwise you have to invest in another spring kit and you can't go back to air spring. It marks the inside of the chamber. -

FWIW I think second forks are generally a bad idea unless really, really cheap. Cheap enough to cover the cost of a damper rebuild and still give you the impression you've got a good deal.

one way trip.

Or they’re practically new.

Optimus...is that you?

I wish it was! It was a different kind of manual that's fucked me up.
I'm hoping I've recovered enough, by the weekend, I'm bored of Coronavirus transport, and I'm bored of arse aching.

Excellent. I'll bring naproxen. It's going to be a wild ride.

Thetford Forest Dope Badgers - FTFY
There's plenty of brand new second hand forks that have come strait off people bikes, that's where my Bomber came from.
